Can anyone recommend a good primer to the stock market? it doesn't have to be "stocks for dummies" or anything like that, I'm pretty good at handling concepts that are presented to me and get bored easily when I read stuff that is totally obvious (Financial advice books telling you to *gasp* pay off the credit card with highest interest rate first!) I currently manage my mutual funds in my 401K, which did great last year (13% return), but this year are sucking (only about a 3%return so far), but I would like to learn more so that maybe someday I can become a rich quadrillionaire. :P

No way, the internet message boards are where all true information lies.

A week of CNBC during market hours can provide a quick crash course on the "appearence" of the market. It's a tough beast to tame. My advice is play it very safe.

I like cnbc.com
or msn money.
any site like that will give you an idea, just start reading the articles to get the jist of what's going on.
my only advice: don't rush into anything...more day traders lose than win.

I agree with Motley Fool. It is a great place to get a basic crash course.
