my computer is dying from this virus that is somewhere in my 'Temp' folder in the 'Windows' ont he c: (XP). is it safe to delete anything from that temp folder, as opposed to the 'temporary internet files' folder and 'cookes' folder which is inside it? i'm so confused. maybe it's not even the right folder. there's another folder i don't know the origin of in the c: called 'temp' which looks.. suspicious

there's also a bunch of stuff in C:\WINDOWS\System32\ :( which just keeps reappearing every time my virus protection deletes it. how do i kill it????

edit: ok, here's the problem. i have this virus
Virus Name: Win32.Efewe.F
which keeps appearing here C:\WINDOWS\system32\winmon.sys
and i'm having problems figuring out how to get rid of it and it's wreaking havoc :(

i think my only option is to smash my computer into a thousand pieces.

I use AVG anti-virus. It's free and i've never had a virus since I've been using it.

thanks ara, i'll give it a try.

i don't know what i've done eric, presumably it's all my brother's fault but the task to fix it falls to me because he lacks a brain. so i went into safe mode and deleted it and barely escaped from safe mode with my life and then it just.. came... back. so i installed some firewall *shrugs*

death to all those who think they are electronic gods by creating viruses

Looks like a new mutation :)

Actually there is some info on Win32.Efewe with different letters at the end. It seems like it's a trojan.

Yeah, I found some information on it with B & E at the end, just no F's. I found temporarily disabling my virus protection means I can pretend it's not there :D

Mine has stopped today as well. A nice return from the norm of Norton Anti-Virus pop-ups.
