Is it that or are his achievements due in part to the ease of playing on the Yankees?

Can we just put him on the Devil Rays for a few years and see if anyone still talks about him?
you could put any player in MLB today on the Rays and no one would talk about them any more, your point?
Albert Pujols, Vlad Guerrero, Miguel Tejada, even Alex Rodriguez.
All would be getting attention if they were in a place like Tampa or Kansas City.
Derek Jeter is good at the plate. Derek Jeter is sub-par in the field. He certainly doesn't deserve superstar status, nor does he deserve 18.5 million dollars a year.
I know you're a Yankee fan, and living in New York, I watch just about every Yankee game due to YES. For every "amazing" play people claim Derek Jeter makes, he lets quite a few pass him on his left. In the past 2 years or so, it seems like anything even remotely toward 2nd base isn't worth Jeter's time and it gets through for a base hit. He's got a good arm, but his Range Factor sucks (and don't pull the 'no one cares about those stats' stuff like everyone seems to. Range Factor is a telling stat, that can't be argued like the merit of Zone Rating can). He's also lucky he's got such a good fielder at third (albeit one who seems to still be getting acquainted with the position). I don't think Jeter's the worst shortstop in the Majors, or even the worst in the AL. I just don't think he's worth as much as he's being given credit for.
