I endorse this thread. Now, do you have any nominees?

Me. In 7 years I'll be old enough.

Pro Liberty
Pro gay marrige.
Pro pot legalization.
Pro immgration enforcement
Pro reproductive choice
Pro stem cell (of any research that will save lives)

Anti smoking/drinking/junk food bans
Anti affirmative action
Anti "limitless" military spending
Anti invasion of foreign lands

And my most controversatial plan: The government will pay $50k to people under 35 who get steralized.

I only disagree with three of those. Not bad at all. And I like the last one best of all.

SS - Current system is unsustainable (even with tax increases), but I am not entirely convinced by partial privatization. I think restructuring our tax and welfare systems to encourage savings and investment instead of over-spending would be a good first step.

School choice - If public schools fail, then parents should be able to put their kids into private schools... our first priority is the kids, not the teachers. In my area, DC, the schools have one of the highest per students spending averages and are among the worst in the country. Throwing more money at it is not a good solution. Competition would probably be better. I would also like to see year round schooling and the elimination of "No Child Left Behind" laws.

Guns - don’t like them, don’t own one, would not consider imposing this on anyone else. If you like guns then buy one. If you don’t, then don't. Automatic/Semi-autos should be banned as they have no practical (hunting/sport) use.

Medicaid - I am not educated enough on this issue to have an opinion. I would like to see some sort of "personal responsibility" clause though. Something like; "If you choose to smoke and eat krispy kremes all day, we choose not to pay for medical care and use that money to help people who care about themselves and not burdening society".

the biggest problem with medicaid in NYS is that it's causing county taxes to go up - the fed gov't pays 50 percent of the tab, the state 34, and the counties 16. the counties want it completely off their backs, something most states do. i know one county with a sales tax of 10 percent or so.

Erie County is practically bankrupt and Medicaid plays a huge part. The current system is just completely unsustainable.

I wouldn't say, "Jesus Christ, why are the Republicans always out of their FUCKING minds!!!!!" to McCain.
