Legendary rocker Neil Young is making a performance concert DVD here in Nashville with noted Hollywood filmmaker Jonathan Demme, producer or director of The Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia, That Thing You Do!, Adaptation and others.
The event takes place Aug. 15-19 at the Ryman Auditorium, but there's no word yet on which days the actual performance will be, how tickets will be distributed or whether it will be public or private.
Neil has been in and out of Nashville over the past several months, making a new studio album. And Jonathan also has been in and out of town and is believed to have taped several of the Nashville recording sessions.
There's also no word on what the DVD will look like, but it's expected to include concert footage and footage from Neil making his new album here.
Jonathan and Neil worked on another project together in 1995.

When they do things like this it can take several forms. Sometimes they dont mess with getting fans, the have casting directors send out emails to find volunteers to fill seats. I used to be on that list, if thats how they do it and somebody sincerely wants to go, I will anounce it and then email people privately. But its been a year since I have received any emails from that casting person.
Other times like the Johnny Cash tribute they had a raffle(I think).
Also they might just sell tickets, who knows, but I always read the paper and I will post updates when I hear them.

Put me at the top of your list. I live in the Nashville area and would be there in a heartbeat.
I'm hoping for something acoustic and then a Solo tour. Like what Springsteen is doing now. I've seen Neil 3 times live and I would love to see him Solo acoustic.

Does anyone know what the sound of Neil's new album will be like? Acoustic or maybe more rockin'?
Since he's recording it in Nashville, I'm guessing it will have some country flavor to it...but you never know.
I've seen the names Spooner Oldham, Carl Himmel, and BEN KEITH listed as collaborators on this project (Ben Keith is always good news). I've also read that Neil was working with a trumpet player, who knows what that means. Rusties are also reporting that the record has been submitted to the record company, but that release is still as much as 6-8 months off, but that seems like a long time.
I'm thinking it's going to be a "rootsy" kind of album. I'd love to see a straight-up country album, but Neil never really does anything straight up.
