This afternoon I got to talk to Stone Gossard (guitarist for Pearl Jam) on a local radio station (105.9 in Florida). I called in and was the last of 3 listeners who got to talk on the air with Stone. I thanked him first and foremost for the tour & the music in general. I mentioned that I'd been 2nd row to all the VFC shows so far except for Asheville and mentioned how awesome Toledo was with the appearances of Neil Young & Peter Frampton. He agreed that it was a night to remember.

I told him how much I liked Bayleaf and asked him if another solo record was in the works. He said as a matter of fact he's working on material right now! RAWK!! :D I also asked him if he could sing tomorrow night at the show and he said it's really not up to him - "besides after 2 hours of Ed singing, it's just comic relief" LOL! I said he could always sing first and get it out of the way. He said singing in PJ seemed like a good idea in the studio and on paper but not so good in a live format. I said BALDERDASH! Then I was essentially cut off by the DJ so I said bye and hung up :P I hope the station has the interview up on their website in the near future. UPDATE: I can't find any archives on their site so I just sent the webmaster an email about it.

it isn't like Pearl Jam really - but I love it. it sucks that there's only 10 songs on it though!

Woo Hoo!

The only bad things about Bayleaf is that its only 10 songs and that he never toured to support it!

I love all 10 songs, some are stronger than others but the album is great. Suprisingly there are B-Sides (Which is weird since its only a 10 track CD) but "Shame on You" is unbelivably good (i think its about ed)...

Can anyone hook me up with Can't Stop? I'm dying to hear it, but never have

Wuh? B-Sides? Was there ever an official single released? I need to hear those!!!!

BTW, I want to ad that I hope his second record is him taking lead vocals on ALL of the songs. I understand that Stone was a little shy, but that other guy singing is the only weak link on the record. Stone's voice just rocks.

bayleaf is a good album to own and whilst i enjoy it i certainly prefer ed's voice. there are some good songs on it however like cadillac and he has the help of some buddies of his.

I enjoy both immensely, but I would have to disagree.

I do think that Bayleaf > Ten > Vs., though.

*ducks*

I think part of it was Bayleaf being released on 9/11/01. It didn't get a fair shot, and it wasn't promoted well. And I didn't start getting into PJ's "side projects" until I purchased Stone's album & Brad's Interiors at the same time. Now I *love* The Rockfords, Brad, and Stone's stuff, plus I follow the other members of those bands as well. Haven't gotten into Three Fish or Wellwater Conspiracy yet, though.

Another Stone solo album would rock! But I hope he meant the new PJ record he's writing stuff for when he said he's writing new stuff.
