according to the NY Daily News, the new CBA has a clause that will allow the NYK to release Allan Houston and drop his salary from the luxury tax part of their payroll. sad but needed, as AH will prob never be a real player again....

also just read they have traded Kurt Thomas to the Suns for Q Richardson. I know KT hates Marbury's game which makes him Isaiahs enemy, but Kurt Thomas was the only old school Knick who actually wasnt a pussy. He is an Oakley-type banger who plays D, dives for balls, and ol' crazy eyes will take on anyone in the league....sucks to see him go, another enemy on an ever growing list for the dickhead that is Isaiah thomas

Knicks just continue to stock up on no-D playing shooting guards.

I don't hate this trade for the Knicks. Richardson is 8 years younger and is a pretty good rebounder. Once they buyout Houston, Crawford is the only SG...which is a scary thought.

KT's defense was overrated. One of the writers did a study last year that showed how all the opposing 4's lit him up last year.....and his offense consisted of 12-foot jumpers. He had no post game to speak of.

I'd rather his minutes went to Sweetny or whoever they draft in the lottery.

Tubbs, I am ALL for giving Sweetney major minutes this year, but Isaiah will probably trade him for some MORE outside shooting....

I also read somewhere the Knicks may be talking to the Jazz about Boozer. Not sure what they'd give up, and he has a big contract.......

Is this a general provision in the CBA, or is it specifically geared toward the Knicks? If the latter, it would just perpetuate the thinking the NBA will bend over backwards to resurrect the Knicks because the NBA needs New York.

Im sick of getting 3rd rate talent with 1st rate contracts, its been going on since the 90's.

just wait 2 yrs for some money to drop off and get a big time player. no more boozers, crawfords, and Richardsons....

no its apparently a one time deal for each team. they can cut ONE player of their choice and still pay the player his full salary, but it wont count against the luxury tax. So Dolan will save himself $40 mill by cutting Hou, and the knicks would still be over the cap.

I don't know . . . that's why I asked. It wouldn't surprise me, though, considering the Patrick Ewing lottery conspiracy . . . :D

If the Suns really traded Q, they are idiots... Oh well, they could do worse.

The Knicks are weak.

Being located in NYC is their only saving grace right now. If they were located in Charlotte or something, nobody would be talking about them.

Now that I think about it, I think this is probably good for the Suns.

Bad for Quentin Richardson, though.
