I've been listening to both of these albums for the last week:
Another classic band that I took too long to check out. Screamadelica is 60s Stones-style rock infused with dance music (acid house, which was popular in Britain in the early 90s). The record was produced by DJ Andrew Weatherall who I believe would later work with the Chemical Brothers. He basically took their songs, chopped them up, rearranged them and added really heavy beats.
XTRMNTR is more rough around the edges, punk/classic rock/dance with a left-wing political edge. Kevin Shields apparently helped with a few of the tracks, although I don't know how much influence he had.
PLUS, the band was on the Creation record label which is probably one of the greatest, Jesus and Mary Chain, MBV, Ride, Oasis, House of Love, etc. the list of great bands goes on and on...
Also, has anybody here heard Vanishing Point?

My Aunt is married to the lead singer of Primal Scream, quite bizarre really. Also, the lead singer in a band I'm in is currently making an album with the Primal Scream drummer which should be completed shortly...

I think I'm going to have to ask for some proof

When I get the album, probably a rough mix, I'll send you some mp3's. Their lead guitarist, the singer's brother, is stupidly stupidly good. My aunt's name is Katy England, or at least it was before. She's a fashion designer if my memory serves me correctly.

Hot damn.

It's good to hear that someone can pick up Screamadelica in 2005 and get off on it. It was very much a product of it's time but still holds up today.
Vanishing point is a great set of tracks, including the mighty Kowalski. Can't imagine anyone who appreciates Screamadelica and xtrmntr not loving it as well.
btw, the loose line up of Primal Scream has been involved in four of the most important albums in Britrock history.
1) Screamadelica (doh!)
2) The Stone Roses debut - bassist Mani with the 'Scream from Vanishing Point to present.
3) Loveless (or Isn't Anything, can't decide which was the more important album) by My Bloody Valentine - Kevin Shields has never been an official member but features heavily since 97 on albums and b-sides.
4) Psycho Candy by The Jesus And Mary Chain - Bobby Gillespie on the drums!
One cool band .

Yes, if you think about it, Primal Scream are just about the best supergroup that ever existed. Mani and Kevin Shields, can't get a much better guitar section than that.

I think they make terrible album art, though. The first one I posted makes me want to puke.
