I got this idea from another thread. Post your top 20 overrated movies of all time. I'll crunch the numbers and post the list after everybody votes. They don't have to be in any order, just post your opinion of the 20 most overrated movies you've seen. I'll post mine in a bit.

20!!! Christ!

OK that's a good start.

1. Passion of the Christ
2. Sideways
3. 25th Hour
4. Do The Right Thing
5. Star Wars III
6. The Fugitive
7. Patriot Games
8. The Insider
9. Monster’s Ball
10. sex, lies, and videotape
11. Solaris
12. Whale Rider
13. I Heart Huckbees
14. Jerry McGuire
15. My Cousin Vinny
16. Punch Drunk Love
17. Something’s Gotta Give
18. Dances With Wolves
19. Legends of the Fall
20. Edward Scissorhands

Very quick list. I'm sure there are 20 better choices, but this is what I got by perusing my Netflix ratings.

I tried to make a "mix" of it too. Critical acclaim, fans acclaim, a little bit of Box office prowess, etc...

Yes it does.
take away the opening scene, and you have a mediocre war movie.

i disagree. i think the emotional part of that movie - which, the movie is also helped by having ridiculously good effects - really carries it. between some of the scenes, and tom hanks character, i think it's great.

alright, here goes. forrest gump is overrated? why do you think so. maybe we should have some sort of reasoning behind our picks. i only bolded the usual suspects because i've heard it's good - i've never seen it.

and dude, field of dreams!? i mean, as a man, i even cry during that movie. amazing. and sixth sense? gladiator? these are some of my favorite movies.

what i'm trying to say is i like about 15 of your 20 picks.

These guys sum it up for me pretty well. Plus they write better than me. Click the link and read and you'll get an idea on why i hate this movie. It's short and sweet but i'm too lazy to post a long opinion.

Joe Jackson bats righty and i don't get the sentimental feeling of the movie. I'll cry watching Rudy, Rocky, Without Limits, etc...but i never got what made this movie such a tear-jerker. It's just a fluff piece. And the people who go to Iowa to see this field should check to see if they still have their testicles.

I agree on Field of Dreams. It's just so damn corny.......

wouldn't even make my top 10 list of baseball movies.
