I got this idea from another thread. Post your top 20 overrated movies of all time. I'll crunch the numbers and post the list after everybody votes. They don't have to be in any order, just post your opinion of the 20 most overrated movies you've seen. I'll post mine in a bit.

is this thread gonna get stickied and then languish on top of the forum for like nine years?

I tried to make a "mix" of it too. Critical acclaim, fans acclaim, a little bit of Box office prowess, etc...
Good Will Hunting
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
There's Something About Mary
Cast Away
Bull Durham
Field of Dreams

saving private ryan does not belong on the list. sorry.
Yes it does.
take away the opening scene, and you have a mediocre war movie.

i disagree. i think the emotional part of that movie - which, the movie is also helped by having ridiculously good effects - really carries it. between some of the scenes, and tom hanks character, i think it's great.

These guys sum it up for me pretty well. Plus they write better than me. Click the link and read and you'll get an idea on why i hate this movie. It's short and sweet but i'm too lazy to post a long opinion. http://www.ruthlessreviews.com/movies/w ... ltime.html

Joe Jackson bats righty and i don't get the sentimental feeling of the movie. I'll cry watching Rudy, Rocky, Without Limits, etc...but i never got what made this movie such a tear-jerker. It's just a fluff piece. And the people who go to Iowa to see this field should check to see if they still have their testicles.

I agree on Field of Dreams. It's just so damn corny.......
wouldn't even make my top 10 list of baseball movies.
