do you want just a domain name? or do you want a hosting service as well where you can store your files and have a website? if you need a hosting service along with the domain name, here is one place to check out that's pretty reasonable:

it seems like the one that peeps mentioned has more to offer than the one buggy mentioned. comparing the 7.95 plans, the canaca plan seems to be a lot better than the lunar one. another question i had was if i wanted to set up some sort of board, like this one but with less traffic obviously, would i be able to do that and do you think that the amount of bandwidth and storage space that is offered in the 7.95 would allow me to do so?

My webhosting package is 10 gigs/month (bandwidth). That should answer your question.

i have the 9.95 plan, its way more than i need at this time, but i have a few mp3s on it. you can set up a board, in fact i had two set up on mine and then some.

basically i use it to store stuff on that i want to share, and every now and then i like to fuck around with dreamweaver and flash and put up some pages

Basically, the purpose of the site is to do a number of things...

1. Run a personal webpage with a number of different topics
2. Have some sort of space to store "professional" materials. Pages/items that will show any potential employers the quality of my work and what i can do
3. Set up a few boards
4. Upload a few mp3 and other file formats (movies/pictures/etc)

Based on what Ensign and Peeps have said it seems like the 7.95 plan from canaca would fit all of my needs and then some.

I signed up for one of their plans and have been very dissapointes so far. The email has been off and on for several days as well as other services like FTP and even the website in general. I email their support and they are usually quick to respond and fix it, but sure enough, the next day it's not working again. I'll have to see if this continues, but I have not been impressed...at all.

I missed this thread earlier, but for anyone considering web hosting, I'd highly recommend Lunarpages. Check out http://www.lunarforums.com to see what their customer support is like.

I tried checking out canaca.ca but the site won't even load. I don't know how reliable it is. Anyway if anyone is interested in Lunarpages, feel free to PM me, I've been using them for about a year and they're the best host I've used. Also they have a killer referral program, $52 per referral. If you sign up with my link I'll split the fee with you.
