LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actress Angelina Jolie is adopting a newborn Ethiopian girl orphaned by AIDS, People magazine reported on Tuesday.
Jolie, who has toured the world as goodwill ambassador for the United Nations' High Commissioner on Refugees, said the baby would be named Zahara Marley Jolie but would not reveal the child's age, height or weight, People said.
The magazine had no further information on the baby's health but said she had been left an orphan by AIDS.
Jolie, 30, told People that she and her son Maddox, 3, who she adopted from a Cambodian orphanage, were "very happy to have a new addition to our family."
Arrangements for the adoption were expected to be completed Wednesday.
"Angie's over the moon," a source close to the actress told People. "It's a dream come true. She's always wanted to extend her family."
Jolie has been romantically linked with Brad Pitt, her "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" co-star, but the source denied they were planning a family.
"Angelina's adopting as a single mother and she wants that emphasized," the source told People.
The twice-divorced Jolie has often talked of adopting a second child. After a trip to Ethiopia earlier this year, Jolie said of Maddox: "My son is in love with Africa, so he has been asking for an African brother or sister."
Celebrities adopting orphans ... yeah, you're not an orphan, but won't celebrities end up leaving you with a nanny more than you're actually with them? Is that acceptable given that the kid has now gone from AIDS orphan to rich kid with a top-notch caregiver? Will fucked-up celebreligions (like Scientology) be detrimental to kids? Does Madonna have any skills or experience that justify her writing of children's books?

Madonna's book sucks and I resent her using her celebrity status to sell it. However, she felt like she had something to say, and she has the resources to get that message across. I just wish it were taht easy for us common folk.
As far as celebrity adoptions, I see nothing wrong with it. There are plenty of adoptions into non-celebrity rich familes, and there are plenty of rich familes using nannies to raise their biological children.
The problem arises when the nanny is used too much, when the child ends up loving the nanny more than mommy. And who knows how often these nannies to the stars are utilized?
And how different is it than baby being put in day care from 7 AM to 7 PM every weekday?

even though i am 28, i have been abandoned by my parents, I am anouncing that I am up for adoption! Please if you are a celebrity, I am in need, I have a mortgage, student loans etc and a fly on my forehead right now.

celebrity adoptions: When you compare it to full time day-care I see no problem with nannys. At least the child is then getting full-time one-on-one care from someone who probably cares deeply for them (many of these nannys are there for the long term and become an extended member of the family.) I'm not sure that the general public really has much of a grasp of how much time these celebrities spend with their children anyhow, we assume they never see them, but I doubt that is really the case.
Celebreligions: I sincerely doubt they are any more harmul to kids than most other religions out there, and certainly no more harmful to kids than being raised in a society where girls are not valued.
Madonna can write all the books she wants, and if she finds a publisher, more power to her. IF she has no talent then it is the fault of the mindless idiots who BUY the books that she keeps making more.

My brother is dating the daughter of a Hollywood producer (Oceans 12 was his latest). Her family is obviously filthy rich.
She was raised with a nanny, but never thought of her nanny as her mother. Once she was old enough to not need a nanny anymore (youngest of 3 girls) Nanny (that's what they called her) had been in the family circle for so long that Nanny remained living in the "big house" (they have numerous houses everywhere) as part of the family.
I agree with greedygreeny...being raised by a nanny is way better than being in day care for 12 hours a day. This is not to disparage day cares at all. Even in the best day cares, a 10-12 hour day ther eis just way too stressful on children, especially babies.
And the "hardship" of bing raised by a nanny is certainly preferable to walking the streets of Ethiopia looking for food.

No Kiddin sister, even the people running my center dont understand how stressfull it gets
