Now I like Seinfeld and I think his comedy and his stand up are hilarious. However, he's come through Nashville a few times touring and each time I have passed up seeing him for one reason and one reason alone. Money. The guy charges outragous ticket prices. If his prices were reasonable I would've seen him a long time ago.

3 prices for tickets:

$77.50

$62.50

$47.50

Now if you factor in that this would essentially become a "date night" for my wife and I, you'd have to add a dinner and usually time off of work. The entertainment level doesn't equate with the loss of money and in effect squashes any logical hope and aspirations of ever seeing Jerry Seinfeld live. Go back to TV Seinfeld, go back to TV indeed.

i dont find Seinfelds stand up funny at all.

those prices are unreal, but hes one of the most famous people on the planet so its the norm.

I paid only $40 for front row tickets to see the all time funniest comic, George Carlin, and would do it again in a heartbeat!

No way. No one is THAT funny. I can think of many other things I'd rather do with that amount of money.

Agreed. That's way too much to pay for a stand-up show. Buy some Seinfeld-DVDs instead.

I was at the Comedy Cellar last year in NYC and Seinfeld just sort of dropped in and did a 30 min set. It was cool, but he's so not funny. THe problem is you can only take so much observational humor before it gets old. Especially when the other people on that night were working "blue".

I saw him do his stand up act a few years ago - it was hysterical and it was over 2 hours long, not including the warm up comic (that was on stage for almost an hour). So, if you buy the cheaper seats, it's about $15 an hour for great live entertainment.

Man, you guys are cheap, huh?

It's an expensive ticket. For those prices I'd rather spend my money on something else. I've seen tons of comics that are a lot funnier than Jerry, that I'd much rather see, for a lot less money. I don't mind spending the cash if I feel I'm getting something of value but those prices would make me feel ripped off. But no I'm definately not cheap, I'm definately not stingy with the money I earn, I just don't like to get ripped off. I'm not sure how you did your math but $47.50 = 2 hours of Jerry does not equate to $15 an hour. Plus all the fees tacked on would make each ticket closer to $60 a piece. And those are the cheap seats which are horrible in this venue and You can't even see anything. I might as well buy a CD of him.

For the math, you have to add the opening act. It was 3+ hours total.

Save that money, go see Henry Rollins instead. Not only will your lady cream over his hot, surprisingly sculptish body, but you also won't have to deal with a stale comic who sounds like he hasn't hit puberty yet.

j/k

I snookered some 3rd row center tickets for Seinfeld last year in Buffalo. I enjoyed the show and laughed a lot, but no guffaws. (I judge the success of a stand up comedian by the number of guffaws he elicits--and I like that word--guffaw.) I think he's worth seeing just to say you saw Seinfeld do stand-up, but don't go in with outrageous expectations.

Bottom line, I think he's very funny, but there's no way I'd pay that much to see him. I wouldn't even pay that much to see Carlin, and he's my fave.

Come to think of it, there aren't many bands I'd pay that much to see either, just because I'm spoiled from seeing less expensive, more intimate club shows. I think Springsteen is the only musician I've paid over $70 to see.

I think I am in the norm here.

Jerry came thru here and played 2 shows for those same prices I believe. It seemed everyone went, but I didn't want to go. I like stand-up comedy but for $40-$60! I don't like it as much. So I went to the Lady Lions basketball game for $2 instead

Plus I saw Dane Cook for $10 a few months later and it made it alllll worth it.
