My computer tries to commit suicide almost every time I try to view lecture notes online with acrobat. Does anyone else have this problem? It's infuriating!

What browser are you using? I find that using anything else but IE to view PDF's online will choke a machine for a bit. But I would do what Ensign here suggests and just download them first to the computer.

I'm using IE. It won't let me download them, I need to view them and click save. The times when I've used it and been able to download them it's worked fine.

It may be that you have too many plug-ins loading when it opens up. Try this:
1. Make sure Acrobat is not running
2. Open up Windows Explorer
3. Go to Program Files/Adobe/Acrobat 5.0/Reader
4. Create a new folder in the Reader folder and name it "no_plug_ins"
5. Go to the "plug_ins" folder and cut everything (files and sub-folders) out of the folder except for the file EWH32.api and put them in the no_plug_ins folder. The only thing that should be left in the "plug-ins" folder should be that one file. No other files, no sub-folders.
6. Acrobat should now run much faster.
I originally got the idea here. I left out the print and search plugins because I never use them. If there are any plugins you use, just look at the files and you might be able to figure out which ones you will need to leave in. If not, then post them and someone will help ya

I did it, and it appears to have worked a treat. I've had trouble getting lecture notes for two years, you have seriously saved me Thunderclap. Thanks heaps!
