Comedy Central said Monday it has acquired rerun rights to NBC's "Scrubs," and will start airing the hospital comedy in fall 2006.

In addition, Superstation WGN-TV is said to be negotiating to share the cable window. WGN declined comment.

Comedy Central has acquired the first four seasons -- a total of 93 episodes -- and will also buy the upcoming fifth-season episodes. Along with Disney-owned distributor Buena Vista Television, it declined comment on the license fee or the length of the agreement for "Scrubs."

The deal is a rare move for Comedy Central, whose other few acquisitions have included the British series "Absolutely Fabulous" and the sitcom "Sports Night."

"This is atypical of what our strategy has been, but it was the right show at the right time," said David Bernath, senior vp programing at the network. "(W)e're not in the sitcom business . . . We're really about originals, but we've gotta program a lot of hours every day, and ('Scrubs') can fit into that mix."

No decision has been made as to what time periods the show will air in, but one possibility is the weekday 6-8 p.m. window, Bernath said, adding that it likely will air in multiple slots.

"Scrubs," which debuted on NBC in fall 2001, centers on medical resident John "J.D." Dorian (Zach Braff) as he embarks on his career in a surreal hospital crammed full of unpredictable staffers and patients.

Lame, they need to show more reruns of their own, better shows, like UCB, Kids In The Hall, and Reno 911.

They should screw their heads on straight and bring back Tough Crowd.

Scrubs is pretty tame stuff Jim. I like to see funny shows on Comedy Central.

Uh, no. This is the only thing Quinn's ever been good in.

Agreed. I really miss Kids in the Hall. I loathe Mad TV.

they need to bring back short attention span theater, i think that used to be on the 'ha!' network before it merged with another channel to become comedy central.

does anyone remember the very early days of comedy central when it was "Stand Up Stand Up" featuring non stop clips of Ray Romano, Paula Poundstone and Rondell Sheridan.. along with MST3k, and my favorite...

Almost Live. a sketch comedy show based out of seattle, best know for... The High- Fiven White guys.

i wish they show that.

anyways, im pissed scrubs will be on Comedy central.. because its not HD. id much rather it be on a network affliate.

When is Viacom gonna get its ass off the schnide and put MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central in HD?

This is aweseome as far as I'm concerned. I watched Scrubs when it began to air, but after a while, I missed some episodes. Now maybe I will see some i missed.

I agree with UCB, but Kids in the Hall(while great) has been rerun constantly on a half dozen channels, and Reno 911 has had plenty of play on comedy central. Scrubs is a great show though. I kept up with season 1 but I never watch tv with the exception of Curb, South Park, and Sopranos so I missed the last couple of seasons. I really don't care if Comedy Central reruns it, I just want to see new DVD's out soon. I brought in three more Scrubs fans without trying by having season 1 running on the player.

I agree they've turned Mad TV into a dead horse, but it's way funnier than anything SNL has been vomiting out the last few years.
