hahahah the Knicks won't be competitive until 2010...horrible contracts on the books...would anyone give up a gatorade cooler for Alan Houston at this point? Isiah Thomas inherited a mess and has made it worse (i.e. Mohammed Trade).

the only downside to trading Nazr was taking Rose's contract. IMO, getting 2 first round picks for him was a solid move.

I wouldn't mind them bringing in Walker......he can rebound and handle the ball, which would allow Steph to focus on scoring. But not for Sweetney. I'm not a big Lafrentz fan, and he's owed big $$ over the next 4 years. Maybe if Boston took back Jerome and Malik Rose.....

Sweets could stand to lose a few, but let's not get crazy. He's not in the same league as guys like Miller and Traylor when it comes to weight problems.
As far as his ability, he's shown a knack for offensive reboudning and has a back-to-the-basket low post game. I'm not going to trade a guy like that for just anyone.

yah, this year teams can waive one bad contract to avoid the luxury tax, but the salary cap effect is the same. the good part is that if another team signs the dude, the original team only has to pay the difference between the old and new contracts

it's been reported that the teams will be able to waive the player and gain luxury tax relief - not cap relief.
Second, each team will be given a one-time option this summer to waive one player from its roster and receive luxury tax relief. The team will still have to pay the player and his salary will still count against the cap, but the team won't have to pay a luxury tax on his salary. For example, the Knicks' Allan Houston might a candidate to be waived because of this rule.
