Wow, how about the knicks signing jerome james to a 5 year deal.
waste of money IMO. Although it's better then when they gave the full exception to 'Spoon.

hahahah the Knicks won't be competitive until 2010...horrible contracts on the books...would anyone give up a gatorade cooler for Alan Houston at this point? Isiah Thomas inherited a mess and has made it worse (i.e. Mohammed Trade).

the only downside to trading Nazr was taking Rose's contract. IMO, getting 2 first round picks for him was a solid move.

Tubbs, I like this signing. lets face it, these days thes scrubs command at least a teams 5.1 mill exception... as long as James can play more than 17 mpg its a good deal.
how about this BULLSHIT rumor I read: Isaiah for some unknown reason is dying for Antoine Walker. So hes going to dump Sweetney (MAJOR mistake) for 'Toine, Raef Lafrentz and Marc Blount??????
that one would be mind boggling dreadful...i hope it never happens

I wouldn't mind them bringing in Walker......he can rebound and handle the ball, which would allow Steph to focus on scoring. But not for Sweetney. I'm not a big Lafrentz fan, and he's owed big $$ over the next 4 years. Maybe if Boston took back Jerome and Malik Rose.....

most of the shitty players who are owed money, and even those who are great and owed alot of money, may get cut, and it wont hurt teams that much at all

Sweets could stand to lose a few, but let's not get crazy. He's not in the same league as guys like Miller and Traylor when it comes to weight problems.
As far as his ability, he's shown a knack for offensive reboudning and has a back-to-the-basket low post game. I'm not going to trade a guy like that for just anyone.

their deals will likely still count against the cap - which always hurts.

yah, this year teams can waive one bad contract to avoid the luxury tax, but the salary cap effect is the same. the good part is that if another team signs the dude, the original team only has to pay the difference between the old and new contracts

actually, i thought there were allowed to waive some players, and still owe them their money, but it wouldnt count against the cap.
ie, finely in dallas, if he gets waived, like hes supposed to, hes owed like 15 mill this season, he can sign with another club for say the 5 mill exception, and there fore, get paid 20 mill for the season

it's been reported that the teams will be able to waive the player and gain luxury tax relief - not cap relief.
Second, each team will be given a one-time option this summer to waive one player from its roster and receive luxury tax relief. The team will still have to pay the player and his salary will still count against the cap, but the team won't have to pay a luxury tax on his salary. For example, the Knicks' Allan Houston might a candidate to be waived because of this rule.

Hahahaha it's like Isiah is TRYING to kill the Knicks. Maybe Bill Davidson is paying him under the table to ruin them? $6mil a season for a 5 point, 4 rebound guy with a bad attitude. Awesome.

This is why optomists should not run sports franchises.

Lets play 'The Easiest way to wreck an NBA Franchise' Todays Organisation will be the New York Knicks. Contsetant number 1, 'What is the easiest way to damage the Knick Francheise?'
A. Trade for Stephon Marbury
B. Give Away all your first round draft picks till 2120
or C. Make Isiah Thomas your General Manager.

Apparently Bryan Colangelo was discussing Quentin Richardson's poor performance in the conference finals with someone in the local media... And basically they said, "What do we do with a player with poor clutch performance and a bad back?" Colangelo responded, "Maybe we could call Isaiah Thomas."
