What does the sound card have to do with it?

Installing drives is typically really easy.

i thought you would have to somehow connect audio cables to the sound card to be able to have audio on the new drive.

I bet the drive you ordered has detailed instructions on how to install.

Yeah SIMPLE.

Step 1: Turn Computer Off/Unplug
Step 2: Open Tower
Step 3: Insert New Drive in empty bay
Step 4: Plug drive cord in empty slot on the motherboard
Step 5: Close Tower
Step 6: Plug Computer IN/Turn On

WRONG.  :!:  :?:  :? :?

There's two things you've got to plug into the drive.

yeah the big cord thing AND the little cord thing. when it comes to PC hardware i'm pretty retarded but i have been able to successfully install a DVD burner, a CD burner and an extra HD that all work fine. Just follow the instructions and you should be ok.
