I was just offered Tim Hudson for Billy Wagner.

We play Rotisserie style, and I have a good lead in wins (I'm up 7 wins on the closest guy behind me) and am making a push in saves (I need 2 to catch the guy ahead of me).

I have 5 RPs, 4 Starters, and Schilling on my team. (in comparison, the guy I'm chasing in Saves has 4 RPs).

Opnions? Should I let go of Wagner for another Starter?

Sounds like you could use a starter.

I would agree, I think long-term, I'll need another starter. I'm hoping Schilling will get out of the pen in the near future, that would be a huge help.

But right now, I need the Saves. And if Wagner goes to Boston, that's a huge plus for him.

well you said the guy in front of you has 4 RP's..how many do u have? and how close is the next guy behind you in saves? Schilling probably won't stay in the pen all year too

I have 5, the guy I'm chasing has 4. The guy behind me isn't even close. I do think that my releivers are better than the guy I'm chasing, so I feel I might catch him with my 4 against his 4.

Hudson is a bit scary coming of injury and all.

yeah the injury risk is concering..plus the fact that wagner might be traded to a contender, so more trade opportunities..this is a tough one

I wouldn't do it. Too many questions right now. Will Hudson come back strong from his injury? Will Wagner be traded to a contender? Too many unknowns for me. I'd wait for things to pan out.

Hijack-in-progress.

Here's one for you:

David Ortiz for Roger Clemens and Scott Podsednik. Legit trade for both sides/one side?

It all depends on what each side needs and has. Obviously one has pitching to spare, and the other has power to spare. :shrugs:

I've got Ortiz. I lead in all power categories. I need SB's and I need K's. The other guy leads in SB's and needs power. The trade seems like a no-brainer to me, but the other guy won't budge.

It's awful hard to trade Clemens and the runaway SB leader. I'd up the ante if I were you.

I agree. Giving up Clemens AND Posednik is a lot for Ortiz. Throw in another P to sweeten the pot.

Seriously, yeah. Throw in an OF with some power on that trade, you're asking for the runaway ERA leader on the hottest 2nd half team, and somebody so far and away better at SB's that one doesn't need anybody else, for a very good 1B. Way skewed in your favor, no wonder the other guy won't take it.

The Hudson/Wagner deal's tough, but if you're one of those who's quick on the waiver wire, then you can afford to let go of Wagner and get one of the cheap closers that always comes around sooner or later. (Matt Belisle?) Hudson looked strong in his first start back...I'd accept the offer.

The other trade is a joke. Papi's a nice bat to have in your lineup, but he plays at a stacked position and definitely not worth Pods and Clemens. Check the guy's other pitchers and see if you can snag a solid SP with a lesser profile. (Morris, Livan, Beckett, Myers....someone along those lines.)

If you're really lacking at SP, scour the wire for Bedard. Maybe his previous owner dropped him during the long injury. That guy is a STUD!

I just traded Josh Beckett for Javier Vazquez straight up in a keeper league. Beckett's never going to be healthy. I've had him since he was in AA ball and that is one fragile motherfucker. Javier is having a huge season and has only missed 6 starts in his entire career. Hopefully he can keep his ratios similar to where they are for the next half decade.

I agree, if Beckett farts wrong he's on the DL for 4 weeks. Still, if (and that's a big IF) that guy ever pitches a complete season, I think he's capable of Cy Young numbers. As for Vazquez, I'm not as high on him as you are, but I'd certainly lump him in with the other pitchers I mentioned. Pods/Vazquez for Papi? I'd take that.

I actually just traded Beckett and a couple bum closers for Chipper and Bill Hall. I already have Oswalt, Sheets, Peavy, Myers, D.Davis, and Bedard so my innings were filling up. Believe it or not, someone's actually ahead of me in ERA & WHIP!
