I was at my brother's wedding in Chicago this weekend, and found out about the Intonation festival at the last minute. I couldn't go for very long, but I managed to go see Magnolia Electric Co. I love these guys, but I didn't expect to dig the concert nearly as much as I did. I just couldn't see Molina being someone who catches your attention live. Wrong...excellent, excellent show that got me all excited about these guys all over again.

As a PS, the reason I found out is I was checking Andrew Bird live dates. The Decemberists were on the second day.

That festival was enviable. Grrrrr.

Means shit to me. I don't waste my time worrying about crap like that.

About an hour, which is all the time they had alloted. I wish I could remember the whole setlist, but I know they played Farewell Transmission, Just Be Simple, a couple of older Songs: Ohia tunes that fail me now, and two or three off the new one (Dark Don't Hide it, etc).

very good. somewhere between magnolia electric co. and what comes after the blues. some of it might even be more like pyramid electric co. though. it's really intimate, as it was recorded completely live without overdubs. plus, the title track is amazing, as is blue factory flame.

Magnolia rock. I was supposed to see them in April but it fell through when we had some stuff come up. I'll get another chance, I'm sure.

they have the nuttiest touring schedule i've ever seen. they'll literally play for like three weeks straight. it's to the point of stupidity.

be sure to let us know how you like didn't it rain, zeb.
