McCain on sexy film: 'I work with boobs every day'

Republican senator defends role in breast-laden 'Wedding Crashers'

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is defending his cameo appearance in "Wedding Crashers," the sexy comedy the Drudge Report called a "boob raunch fest."

"In Washington, I work with boobs every day," joked McCain during an appearance on NBC's "Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

McCain was responding to Leno, who noted Matt Drudge ran a headline last week screaming that the Republican was starring in a "boob raunch fest."

"I think that pushes the limits of his imagination," said McCain of the headline.

Drudge had reported that McCain, "who once held hearings chastising Hollywood studios for producing R-rated films and marketing them to teens -- is now playing a part in one!"

Jane Seymour and Owen Wilson in 'Wedding Crashers' (New Line Cinema)

In one scene in the film, veteran actress Jane Seymour goes topless in an attempt to seduce Owen Wilson, who plays a divorce attorney trying to pick up women at weddings to which he has not been invited.

Leno continued to ask McCain about the controversy, saying "suddenly you're in a porno movie."

"In Washington, D.C., there's a lot of qualities," responded McCain. "A sense of humor is not one of them."

In addition to the film, McCain discussed several more serious items in the news, including the possible replacements for Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who recently announced her retirement.

"I think Fred [Thompson] would be my candidate," McCain said, referring to the former Tennessee senator who was chosen by President Bush to help sift through candidates. "If I had his voice, I'd be president of the United States."

McCain also implied Bush might indeed select Thompson, in the same way the vice president was picked as a running mate in 2000.

"Wasn't Dick Cheney chosen to find a vice presidential candidate?" asked McCain.

Regarding the presidential race in 2008, McCain said he'll wait until after 2006 before he'd announce any potential bid for himself.

He believes Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry will likely take another shot at the Oval Office, along with New York's Hillary Clinton.

"I think Sen. Clinton would certainly like to be president. I think she'd make a great secretary of defense," McCain said, with the studio audience

I lost all respect for John McCain during the last election. I thought he was an independent thinker for a while, but to see him support Bush/Cheney after what they did to him in 2000, and to turn his back on Kerry when YOU KNOW he knew good and well Kerry was the better man, showed me that he's just another party-line stooge.

He was shaking hands with Christopher Walkin's charactor when they first show him. Remember he's suppose to be the Secretary of Treasury. It's very brief.

Hes one of three real statesman in Washington, you should forgive him for not sharing all your opinions (unless you are from Arizona).

McCain is the one who has to make a huge public spectacle everytime he does something. That's why he's a tool.

If John McCain ran for President again, I would strongly consider voting Republican for the first time in my life. He's one of the few politicians who I feel speak their mind and make decisions purely with logic and not along party lines.

Yeah, like his logical support for George W. Bush despite Bush's smearing of him in 2000 and his Vietnam veteran counterpart in 2004? He was all about the party line last election.

You're right. When it came to the presidential election, he supported Bush. However, every interview I saw him in, it was quite obvious he was doing it reluctantly. I lost some respect for him, that's for sure. I still believe he's far and away one of the best Republicans out there.

I doubt I would vote for McCain over a Democrat, but I sure wouldn't be ranting at the top of my lungs every day about how evil our Republican leadership is if he won.

Matt Drudge, really needs to get laid. Really. That movie is hilarious and McCain does a great cameo, he's not even near any of the boob scenes.

What a fantastic retort from John McCain, I just wish he would do something about restructuring that awful McCain/Feingold deal.

I wrote in McCain in the last election, I just wish he was not trying to get the government involved in everything (baseball etc)

He really had no shot, a moderate, intelligent guy up against the smear machine that is the Bush camp. I really wish he'd have said fuck bush, fuck gore, vote libertarian.

that's the worst part about it all... he went against his own beliefs... it doesnt get much more pathetic than that... i know you said you lost some respect for him, but i think i lost all respect after that... a true sellout
