So the Packers are playing the skins at FedEx today. And yet this is in the N&D forum. This is due to the fac that , over the past 15 elections, the winner of the last Skins home game has determined the winner of the presidential election. If the redskins win, the incumbent (or same party member) wins. If the skins lose, then the challenger wins.

This isn't completely on topic but there's a couple of things like this floating around out there that I know about: so far, no president that lost the popular vote in the first election has ever been re-elected to a second term.
Also, No president who's approval ratings were below 50% (not sure of the percentage, so I'm open to corrections here) about mid-way through the year of the election has made it to a second term either.

An old wise man's tale. A few days ago, on the Headline News ticker, they stated that Bush would win the Presidency because 60% of those little brats who read Weekly Reader said so and they've predicted who'd win the Presidency since the 50's; despite the fact that the incorrectly predicted that Bush I would win a landslide over Clinton in 1992 and despite the fact that they've taken seriously what stupid little third graders believe, it's almost like investing in the stock market on the financial advice of some "enlightened" 14 year old. Its the kind of shit that makes me want to go out and kick some little trick-or-treater's bucket of candy out of his/her hand.
Anyway, just to be on the safe side. Bret Farve better not fuck up, or they'll be hell to pay....

Anyway... This particular streak already ended, eight years ago. According to blogger Justin Taylor, on whose posting we relied, the Redskins beat the Indianapolis Colts in 1996's last pre-election game, and the incumbent, Bill Clinton, was re-elected.
It's true of course that Clinton won, and the Redskins did beat the Colts, 31-16 — but that game took place Oct. 27, eight years ago yesterday. On Nov. 3, the 7-1 Skins lost to the 5-3 Buffalo Bills, 38-13 — and the incumbent president won two days later.
Apparently, also, it's only the last home game for the Redskins that keys the streak.

Who cares about the election, The Pack are 4-4, from 1-4.

I had a lot of cognitive dissonance watching the games as I'm both a Packers fan and will vote for Bush....then I realized that the two are completely unrelated and just enjoyed the Packs victory. Now on to a W victory tomorrow night.
