Congratulations! I never had braces so I can't empathize, but I've known many who have. Your teeth will be slimey for a while. Use that to your advantage.

no... that's why it took so long to get the adult teeth down... they just cut the roof of my mouth and attached brackets to them and every 4 weeks they'd PULL on them and tie them off to the wire

Believe me I know how you feel. I was in an accident when I was 8 knocking out nine of my teeth including my four front adult teeth. I had to have a lot of surgeries, had a brace then on to braces since the accident cause I needed a guard for my teeth to grow in with, and I had to have my wisdom teeth pulled even though they didn't bother me (in case I got fitted with my final implants and then they decided to grow in possible moving my teeth and fucking up my implants).
I finally had my last surgery about two years ago which was implants for the adult teeth I knocked out. I could finally get it done cause I had to wait all those years for my final adult teeth and for my mouth to stop growing. So I have screws in my head literally now .
It was painful and I got made fun of a lot in school but it was worth the life lessons. When I see someone a lot worse off them me I think what could have happened and thank God I just walked away with four fake teeth as a final result. Hell, I could have broken my neck and be in a wheelchair the rest of my life.

i wasnt in an accident, i was just born w/o two of my front teeth. ive had braces/retainers over over a course of 5-6 years and it was all worth it b/c now i have perfect, fake teeth.

Did you get implants too? Or a bridge? A bridge wouldn't work for me cause of the pressure and such the four front teeth use/need.

there's two adult teeth that i don't have but i never did the braces or implants for them. i just got my teeth bonded to close in the gaps. no pain, much gain.

I had braces - got they were horrible. Hurt like hell, often.
They had to write a note on my chart that said "do not tell patient when appliances will be removed" because several visits in a row they promised "next time" resulting in my leaving the office crying my head off.

my other choice was to get my jaw broken, have a piece taken out, have my jaw bolted back together (i have an underbite), get braces from my canines back, have them work for a while to make the gap bigger between my front teeth and my canines, and have a bridge put where the lateral inscisors belong.

its actually 2 bridges, from k9 to my front teeth on each side. they grinded down my front 2 teeth and my k9s to fit it, fun times (i was missing my 2 teeth in between the front 2 and k9s, i dunno what they're called). at the time i had all this shit done it seemed terrible, the only plus was the nitrous, but it was all worth it b/c i have perfect teeth now. fake teeth, but perfect non the less
the only problem ive ever had is when i had the temporary bridge in and my ex g/f punched me in the face and knocked part of it out. she was a little crazy.
