I've seen most of Cano's games, and I'm thinking he'll be among the favorites. I haven't seen much of Swisher or Iguchi....but they seem to be having good seaons as well.

anyone else I'm overlooking?

Based on their numbers, it seems Cano is having a slightly better year than the two other guys I mentioned.

And he went to my high school and I'm friends with him... so yes, he'll win.

even though saves are a b.s. stat, he'll need more of them to get the voters' attention.

And are you sure he's only 3x better than Cano? why not 4 or 5?

because he's only about 3 times better. he has 44 k's and 16 walks in 49 innings with a 1.47 earned run average. nine saves, three wins to one loss. 33 hits, only one home run.

at the very least he deserves it much more than cano does. whether the writers vote correctly i can't predict.

Shelton isnt eligible because of his rule 5 sitting the bench for the whole year.

2 years ago: Tigers Rule 5 Pitchers- Wil Ledezma (AAA) Roney (Released about a month ago), Spurling (solid reliever).

Last Year: Chris Shelton- On the Tigers Roster ALL season, sans a 2 week "rehab" stint in AAA. Barely played. Is NOT eligble for rookie of the year.

The Jays have three guys who I would consider legitimate contenders... Gustavo Chacin (9-5, 3.69 ERA), Aaron Hill (2-29-.306 in only 55 games), and Russ Adams (6-43-.261), but for either one of them to win it he would have to get hot for a while.

Does Jeremy Reed count as a rookie? If so I'd probably vote for him....agreed though, that it's way too early to tell.

crosby won last year and he hit like .230 so any of those guys got a good shot at it. hope swisher wins, he's gonna be a lance berkman-type hitter in a couple years

i guess you don't believe in voting for the most deserving candidate then.

yeah, for some reason i thought Spurling was last year too....my fault....but i remember Rod Allen saying Shelton wasnt on the team when the rosters expanded last year...so it threw me off.

id say Cano, hes looked really good when ive seen him play, Huston Street could be up there.....if the A's keep this up....street wil prolly get it.
