Seriously. You should be happy that they didn't bench your stupid ass. Like for instance, in the extra inning game against the Mets when you struck out 4 times and then grounded into a double play in the 10th. I see him as a big reason for the Cubs not making the playoffs.

yeah blame sammy for the cubs stinking up the joint in september . believe me he had alot of help
Oh believe me, I'm not saying the blame solely rests on his shoulders. But he certainly didn't come through in many situations, which is unacceptable considering that he is "the guy" in both reputation and pay. He shouldn't feel ashamed for being put 6th, he should feel ashamed for not performing up to expecations.

fuck that selfish self-centered individualist asshole.
just him saying he wants to play 5 or 6 more years "to be able to reach 700 homeruns"
that is all he cares about...that is all he EVER has cared about is individual accomplishments. heaven forbid he would want to keep playing in order to win a championship. no 700 homeruns are more important.
seriously the cubs need to do whatever it takes to trade him. i dont care who it is in return...they need to get rid of him.
i'm just glad to hear that he may be tradeable. i didn't think that any club would take him considering what he makes. freeing up that 17 million could really help the cubbies in other areas.

I really doubt they'll free up the full 17 mil (actually 19 mil I believe, if they send him somewhere else). No way anybody's going to pay that much for a guy who had 80 RBI's last year and has had an extended stint on the DL each of the last two years (and isn't getting any younger). Not to mention his blatant selfishness. I mean, what does he have to offer that you couldn't get from somebody else for the same money or less? I'd rather have Beltran than Sosa.

well, his new team will pick up at least part of it, and that should still be a lot of money.
I tried to tell you last year he started going really downhill after the 03 all star break, but no, you had to make some silly argument based only on home runs instead of his overall performance. At least now you see the error of your ways.

And yes, this is I told you so.
First of all, I wasn't the one that said he was some great clutch hitter. I think that was Chris H 2, but don't quote me on that. I was moderately pissed at Sosa in 03, but I have been uber pissed all year and I hope the Cubs get rid of him. Trade him to Philadelphia for Billy Wagner so he can inflate his HR totals and get that 700 he cares so much about.

no, you said he had an "excellent" second half in 03.
Philly would be insane to do that trade by the way.

In May he batted .238, in September .206. Every other month was above .286, and except for the .286 month, everything else was above .300. 32 of his 40 HR that season came in July/Aug/Sept. I mean, what more do you want for an "excellent" 2nd half than 32 HR and 67 RBI?

sigh, he didn't hit 32 in the second half of the season. He hit I believe 22 after the break. And his obp was maybe a tad bit over .300. So I guess what I would want is an obp at least close to the league average and a batting average over .250, as well as some doubles. Something more than a gaudy home run amount.

He's right, he earned the right to be the clean up hitter, and then he played his way right down to the 6th spot in the line up. He earned that too by hitting for a terrible average. It's Dusty Baker's job to get the Cubs to win, not worry about Sammy Sosa's feelings. Man I hope he gets traded to the Mets, that'd be the dumbest move the Mets could make, which makes me believe it's a good possibility.
