OK, so I'm watching this movie. This dude's schtick is that he just wanted to interview Michael Moore, but Michael Moore won't meet him for an interview (plot and film style match MM movies exactly).

So he asks Michael Moore at a public appearance, "I'm writing a book called 'Michael Moore Hates America' will you let me interview you for it?" Michael Moore, of course, refuses, and the dude plays offended for the rest of the movie that he couldn't get the interview.

OK, you tell the person that you're making a movie that is already named and it's already determined that it will trash them. Will they give you some more fodder to make this movie that trashes you more interesting?

Sure! NO. No one would agree to that! :x

I find this no different than what Mr. Moore himself does for his own films. "Excuse me Mr./Mrs. [fill in the name of officer or director of major corporation], we're doing an expose on how your company's products harm Americans, or how your decisions are responsible for the loss of millions of jobs. Would you mind taking some time to speak with us?" Sound familiar?

How come when the guy from the bank in Bowling From Columbine wants to say "Micheal tricked me. I gave him a gun, but I don't give anybody else guns," I get his name and position every time, but there are two professor looking dudes and a dude that's sitting in front of a bar and it NEVER tells me who the hell they are.

Also, I'm glad Penn is there to explain things. :?

Whenever I hear the name Michael Moore, the only thing I can think of is "heart attack waiting to happen."

I've seen him answer critics directly when they question points in his movies.

Asking a direct question (Why did you lay off 2 million people?) is different from saying (Will you talk to me about my movie, "P&G eats its workers). Hell, it's a question they probably already had to answer for every one of their workers.

I can understand why people dislike Michael Moore. He is a sensationalist, but thats what sells movies and books. However he does a good job of raising questions that seem to get passed over by the regular media. Of course he is the ying to the current admistrations yang, but you need to take both versions of the truth and find some common ground somewhere in the middle...and even that is a bit too disturbing for me.

This, sir, cannot be refuted.

and just because he isnt in peak physical condidtion doesnt mean he is a "heart attack waiting to happen".

I think we can all agree that anyone who attempts to make a "documentary" from a biased perspective iis an asshole. I find the idea that others should develop opinions in film, for me, repugnant.

Damnit B! You are much smarter than this. Moore shouldn't even cross your mind! You're way above that. At least....I thought.

Anyone who makes a documentary with biased opinions isn't actually making a "documentary" (not by definition anyways). It's just an editorial with documented facts to back it up...but in cinematic terms its still referred to as a documentary.

doc·u·men·ta·ry ( P ) Pronunciation Key (dky-mnt-r)
adj.
Consisting of, concerning, or based on documents.
Presenting facts objectively without editorializing or inserting fictional matter, as in a book or film.

n. pl. doc·u·men·ta·ries
A work, such as a film or television program, presenting political, social, or historical subject matter in a factual and informative manner and often consisting of actual news films or interviews accompanied by narration

Still i wouldn't say that discredits any of Moore's work. Like i said in an earlier post, he is going to extremes to position his work as the polar opposite of the subject in question. Besides it's pretty hard to make a partisan documentary on current politics.
