K so why did everyone seem to have a problem with Whoopi, Mellencamp, Dave and Bruce supporting Kerry...last time I checked they didnt call our homes and record messages to get our swing. Justa thought though. Nothing wrong with it but Fox cant ahve their cake and eat it too.

Hes recording messages for Pres Bush and they call people in NH, Vermont and Pennsylvania and play them, like courtesy calls.

The point is that some people get up in arms about liberal entertainers (vedder, springsteen, surrandon, etc.). Now that Schilling is telling everyone to vote for Bush, I wonder how they feel about it.

To be fair though, we have had some celeb recoordings from the left on our phone--they may have been abortion specific, or about the election, we hung up right way (and we agree with them, but sooooooo annyoing). They were from Ed Harris, Brad Whitford of West Wing and Jessica Lange, I think.

I know that if I had a stage, I'd use it. In that spirit, if I cheer for the Boss and Ed, I have to accept Schilling, even if I don't like what he says.

But some conservatives rip the Boss and Ed, etc. and praise Heston (and some liberals do vice versa). You have to be consistant. If some should shut up, ALL should shut up.

I don't think they should shut up. Anyone who lets Bruce Springsteen or Curt Shilling decide who they are going to vote for is pretty weak.

Schilling has the same right as anyone else to openly support a candidate. The same holds true for the Boss.

This goes for both sides and no one should have a problem with it (though some still do).

because Faux Op/Ed are hypocrites, that's why.

Have you ever heard that Laura Ingram girl who wrote 'Shut up and sing!'? She was going on about bands like Pearl Jam (and mentioned them on Faux) complaining but never giving any answers, they just do it for publicity and to reach a certain crowd to sell albums. But then in the same interview she admited she had no problem with ppl like Charlie Daniels and Toby Keith spouting off about politics! It's amazing how blatant they can be about their double standards

It's in New England.

He could personally go around and give out sexual favors to everyone in the region and they would still all vote for Kerry.

I don't know why you're even worried about it.

Grrrrrrrr...Im not WORRIED it was just a discussion thread. I was just giving an example of the gross hypocrites on TV. I have no problem at all with bands doing what they want, however, if Mike Mccready called my house on a recorder telling me who to vote for and it woke me up or tied up my phone line or I was busy and its a stupid courtesy call, i would be pissed off. Its different ahve bands play or people speak at political rallies..hmm geeee do you think at a Kerry Rally there will be Kerry supporters? Derrrrr. I just have a problem with it not being proportianal with the criticism and what not surrounding it. If no one was pissed about teh other supporters fine, but lets see some unbias towards it.

There are plenty of people here that wouldn't vote for Kerry for anything.

No one wants to talk politics anymore. I try, but even political people seem to move away from political conversations with me. I love to talk about issues but it seems like everyone is afraid of offending somebody.

issues??? what are those? THo it does sound vaguely familiar...oh, right, issues are things the media covers like kerry and bush holding up an ear of corn or telling the cameras how theylike their cheesesteak, right?

Issues . Like gay marriage or the legal beginning of life or seperation of power or the constitutional duties of our branches of government. I would love to talk about Article II of the constitution with someone without them trying to remove a Article of my clothing.

Oh, well in that case I hate it when anyone soliciting me calls my house. Telemarketing is by the way the worst job in the history of work.

For a 6th month period in college due to internships and the like it was my only way of earning money. Wow, that job is awful. Automated dialers are the pussy way out.

I think they should be illegal.

If anyone Bruce Springsteen, Kurdt Schilling, George Bush, John Kerry who ever. If they want to do that it has to be LIVE!!! That should be added to McCain/Feingold.

You want my vote bitches? You have to actually work for it.

I meant if the better part of NE's Electoral Votes go to Bush or an Independant instead of a Democrat it'd be a chilly evening in Hell.

Who fucking cares what Curt Schilling thinks?

"I'm undecided. I'm a Red Sox fan. Curt Schilling is a Red Sock. He supports Bush. Therefore, I guess I support Bush."

If anybody decided who to vote for based on who a celebrity endorses, they are a moron and shouldn't be allowed to vote.

I was sort of watching Crossfire the other day and Tucker What'shisface was talking about how OF COURSE all those terrible liberals are gonna hate Schilling now cause he supports Bush.
WHO CARES? Schilling is great. He can support who he wants, and I wish he hadn't apologized for the statement because HE HAS THE RIGHT to make it. I'm not going to like him or the Sox any less because of his political leanings.

I think my main point has been missed. Its NOT his right to support whomever..its the fact he is interupting our everyday lives by soliciting with a phone call, not partaking in a rally or something.
