i've gotten into his new album, his skittish/rockity roll stuff and a downloaded concert from like two weeks ago. his acoustic stuff is amazing, his live stuff is fun, his plugged in stuff is more guitar orientated, but sounds like his soul coughing stuff. anyone else listening? looking for smofe and smate...

Yeah I just bought Haughty Melodic off ebay. I like a bunch of his solo stuff, more so than Soul Coughing I think...

WTF????

Mike Doughty has become the first artist to officially endorse
Fender's Hello Kitty line of guitars
, which many of you have seen
Mike and Scrap play at Question Jar Show gigs in the last year. A
longtime Hello Kitty fan, Mike will play the custom
Stratocaster-style instruments at all future shows and on his future
albums.

As part of the endorsement deal, all future pressings of Mike
Doughty's latest album, "Sad Man, Happy Man," will include a slightly
altered tracklist: "(I Keep On) Rising Up" will be renamed "(I Keep
On) Rising Up (The Hello Kitty Song)." Additionally, fans wearing
Hello Kitty merchandise will receive a $5 discount on tickets for all
Mike Doughty headline performances for the remainder of 2010.
"I've long been a Hello Kitty fan," Mike says. "I have a huge Hello
Kitty mural in my apartment. To me, she's a symbol of freedom."

Takezo Kensei, Vice President of International Marketing and Brand
Development for the Sanrio Co. Ltd. (which owns the Hello Kitty
brand), said in a statement, "It brings Sanrio Co. great honor to
have a musician such as Mr. Doughty affiliated with our flagship
brand. In the future, we hope to work with Mr. Doughty and other
prominent American singers to introduce our Badtz-Maru, Chococat and
My Melody characters to American teenagers as well."

Up next for Mike and Sanrio Co. will be a Mike Doughty/Hello Kitty
edition of the popular video game series Rock Band, coming summer
2011. More details will be announced when available.

While I in no way represent Mike Doughty, I'd like to apologize on his behalf for occupying the stage and performing while 80% of those in attendance were trying to carry on conversations.

In all honesty, I have reservations about sharing this due to the constant crowd noise around me. However, I figured I'd put it out there since there's not a ton of Mike's music currently being shared, and nothing from this year.
