Whats so funny about peace, love, and understanding? Give me the basis for your philosophical and political musings on this board.

i.e.

John Stuart Mill's "On Liberty"
Karl Marx "The Communist Manifesto"
John Locke "Second Treatise on Civil Government"
Friedrich Engels "Private Property and the State"
Thomas Hobbes "Leviathan"
George Carlin's "Brain Droppings"

etc.

note: these do not reflect my personal leanings, just examples (or are they..)

I like that piece from Emerson on Self Reliance.

Kiplings "If" is pretty good too.

But essentially I'm just a lowly moderate libertarian.

I really enjoyed Emerson's thoughts on what made a poet a, well, poet, and while he does romantice the topic a great deal it is a hell of a interesting read.

I've gotta agree on "Brain Droppings." Bill Hicks to an extent.

Oh. And my wallet.

I'd post mine but it seems like an awful lot of work, how long did it take you to type that list?

I could never post my entire library: I'd get banned for jamming up the board!

My fav titles:

Declaration of Indepence-Howard Zinn
Revenge of the Latchkey Kids--Ted Rall
This Bridge Called my Back--varied authors
The Unexpected Legacy of Divorce--Judith Wallerstein
Welcome to the Jungle--Geoffrey Holtz
13th Gen--Neil Howe and Bill Strauss
The Closing of the American Mind--Allan Bloom
Prozac Nation--Elizabeth Wurtzel
Heavier than Heaven--Charles Cross
All I Really Need to Know I Learned From Star Trek--book is upstairs...

as is the rest of my collection.

edit: the Bloom book is actually contrary to ny belief system, but it is always good to know what the "enemy" is up to...
