i think pujols will be better in the end. if the marlins make the postseason, cabrera has a shot at it.

i'm not saying it should matter, but it will matter. that's how it goes. if pujols and cabrera have basically the same season, pujols will get it. also, he'll get the sympathy vote because bonds always gets it over him.

i don't really remember, but i'm assuming it was between sammy sosa and mcgwire so i'll look at them.

i'd say mcgwire, and it's not close.

mcgwire was better.

his .299/.470/.752 wins over bonds's .303/.438/.609

bonds's defense was declining by then and he got caught stealing so much it negates that advantage.

Cabrera has hit .423 9HR and 22RBI over the past month and he was already having a huge year before that month. If he can come close to this for another month he just might win it. Right now Pujols and Lee's numbers are almost identical and they both have more than 10 steals. Cabrera has 1. They also play in baseball cities and get more ESPN time than Cabrera. Miguel is going to have to have a real good last two months to beat these guys.

im just glad it wont be bonds. last yr belonged to adrian beltre hands down, the most clutch hitter in the NL last year, and he led the dodgers OVER frisco, and bonds still got the mvp. bullshit.
