He's sorry ... for the cursing, not the treason.

Quote:
Bob Novak says he's sorry
Bob Novak has just apologized for uttering an expletive and walking off the set of CNN's "Inside Politics" Thursday. "I apologize for my conduct and I'm sorry I did it," Novak said in an interview with the Associated Press. There's no word on why he did it, but Novak insists that his tantrum had nothing to do with the fact that Ed Henry was about to ask him about the Valerie Plame case. "That had nothing to do with it, absolutely nothing," Novak said. "I was sorry he said that."

Without Mr. Stewart, who would voice my dissension on the current political landscape, who would so succinctly articulate the reasons for the general apathy so prevalent in are society, who, just scary to think about that.

There's a very believable theory that Novak pretty much got what he wanted from this little walk-off. Before he left, there was a big red book sitting on the table. Turns out that it was Who's Who in America, the book he claims he got PLame's maiden name from. However, this is impossible, and if someone was going to ask him to point out where in the book her name was written, he would have been "outed" himself, as a liar. So he walked off, avoiding the question, and got suspended from the airwaves, which means he won't have to answer any questions anytime soon. Pretty sweet deal.

Perhaps, but Carville's comments that sparked his outrage seemed to really hit Novak where it hurts, and his response seemed genuine.

"He's got to show these right-wingers he's got backbone, ya know? The Wall Street Journal editorial page is watching you, go ahead."

Novak mows down senior citizen, blames NPR

Conservative columnist Bob Novak ran down a pedestrian today in DC. The 77-year-old Novak, who likes to brag about his aggressive driving style, hit a 66-year-old in the crosswalk as he tried to turn right on red. Politico broke the story; the local ABC affiliate has bonus video.

Interesting facts:

1. Novak allegedly left the scene of the accident. According to Politico's account, Novak only stopped when a lawyer on a bicycle who witnessed the accident chased him down and physically prevented him from leaving the area.
2. Novak says he didn’t notice he’d hit anyone. But the bicyclist-lawyer who witnessed the accident says it would have been hard for Novak not to notice the pedestrian “splayed across his windshield” and rolling off his hood.
3. Novak received only a ticket for failing to yield at a crosswalk, perhaps proving again that it pays to have friends in high places.

Update: Novak blames NPR. No, really. (Insert neo-con joke here.)

Columnist Robert Novak diagnosed with brain tumor 1 hour, 11 minutes ago

Syndicated columnist and former "Crossfire" host Robert Novak has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and is suspending his journalistic work.

Novak issued a statement Monday saying the tumor was found Sunday after he had been rushed to Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital from Cape Cod, where he was visiting his daughter.

The Chicago Sun-Times columnist says he is suspending his journalistic work for an indefinite, "but God willing, not too lengthy period." His statement did not say if the tumor was malignant.

Novak was the first to publicly reveal the name of CIA operative Valerie Plame.

Last week he was given a $50 citation after he struck a homeless man with his black Corvette in Washington. Novak kept going until he was stopped by a bicyclist.
