As much as you would like to say that Iraq was a failure, please refrain and wait for the future. Right now Iraq is on the border line. Will it be another Vietnam or Normandy? Only time will tell.
We see the violence in Iraq, read that our soldiers have been killed, civilians who lost lives and we ask, is it worth it? If it turns into another Vietnam, we have failed and the whole project of Iraq has failed. If its another Normandy, Iraq will be the stone that starts a ripple effect.
Iraq is the heart of the middle east. It could set a positive example for the future. Those Iraqi elections alone gave off a positive example throughout the region, but that could only be the beginning. Imagine a free and stable society in the region. Other citizens in nearby countries take wind of it and notice the good. I have a strong feeling that far more people will be in favor of this change, and eventually overcome the hate.
You don't need to agree with Bushs tactics, but at least respect his vision.

His tactics are in direct opposition to his vision.

Wow you guys are in the dark. You don't have solutions to solve anything. Thats why you would all make terrible presidents.
By the way "president" that metaphor was used by a Marine Captain on MSNBC, tell that to him.
I don't recall anyone saying that they would make a great president and furthermore how does pointing out a problem without giving a solution make the point mute. I bring that up because after problems are brought to life, it seems people now say, well, what do you suggest, pshh.
A Marine Captain made that matephor, well, that explains the reasoning behind it being so freaking awful.

No you guys are fucking morons. Did we land on a beach in Iraq? No. Did we fight adolf hitler in iraq? no. Did the invasion of Normandy signify a change? Yes. Could Iraq signify a change? Yes. Oh gee that was hard!

Your use of diction is childish and your trend of skirting the questions and challenges to your arguments are disheartening, an open debate is not welcomed here I take it, in your threads that is or am I jumping to conclusions? By the way, every war signifies a change, it’s called the aftermath.

Did Iraq occupy the entire middle east with the threat of taking over the world? Was Iraq a multi-national landing to liberate a nation that had been decimated by an invading army?
If you want to say that change is the metaphor, you and the Marine picked a horrible one. Metaphors are supposed to be obvious and draw a parallel.
Quote:
metaphor
n : a figure of speech in which an expression is used to refer to something that it does not literally denote in order to suggest a similarity
Here, let's try another.
Iraq is like cleaning a deep fryer!
You see, when you clean a deep fryer, you get out all the bad grease and put new grease in! Same thing!
