Has anyone picked up this copy, it has Reggie Bush on the cover. Did anyone read the Rick Reilly article? He talks about how these players who are caught "red-urinated" always say they had no idea how it got into their bodies. Its a good read

reilly is about the only thing SI still has over ESPN the mag, IMO.

I, too, prefer Espen the Magazine. It's more entertaining.

Dr. Z and Verducci are the best things about SI these days IMO.
Peter King is a jackass.

ESPN the magazine and SI are the sports equivalent of people magazine. I dont read sports magazines to learn about "the tough road from the ghetto" or some 400lb sports writers opinion on a game he never played. I want sports NEWS, rumors, speculation, who looks good in camp, who the rams want to play right guard, who fits under the florida panthers salary cap.
Give me the Sporting News anyday of the week.
Ill resubscribe as soon as they eliminate the nascar pages (one or two is enough- if you arent gonna cover minor league baseball, then dont cover the fucking truck series.)

Usually a 2 page story per major sport- then, a column, an around the league section, and my favorite, baseball and football team capsules for each team.

the notes for each team were good to have back before the internet got big and there wasn't easy access to local papers.
unfortunately, they seem to have a weak roster of writers. I like Rosenthal and Pompei....but there's really nobody over there who's column I feel is a "must read".

yes, it is essentially a nice collection of the most important news from each team, all in one place, and since its weekly, its usually still relevant. I also enjoy the fact the individual team capsules are written by the local beat writers, so you get a much more educated opinion than a national writer can give, although it is sometimes a bit more biased.
I like my sports coverage based, not writing based. To me the focus in the Sporting news is more on the sports, not the writing.

yeah, but nobody over there seems to have the inside scoop on stuff like trades and free agency or whatever.

its hard in a weekly publication. SI occasionally has something, ESPN the magazine, hell, ESPN.com is rarely right on with that shit.

I agree that the sporting news is the way to go as far as a sports magazine. I used to subscribe to Sport and Inside Sports, I think they merged a few years back.
