I think the percentage record was 1960. Meaning eligible registered voters vs. who showed up. Obviously in sheer numbers it was 1992, as the population has increased. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

Yup, me too. I got to the polls at 7:03 and the line was out the door. I finally left at 7:45 as voter number 75. That's 100 votes per hour, my ward has 1400 registered voters, polls are only open for 13 hours, and you can register at the polls on the day of the election in Wisconsin. You do the math.
Hopefully a lot of people voted early by absentee.

this is definitely going to be the biggest. everyone i talked to so far said the lines were sooooo long. I didn't have to wait at all b/c I voted somewhere in the boonies.

Actually I don't think that would be the case. Only white rich land owners were allowed to vote then. Slaves, Blacks, Indentured servants, poor, women, and anyone who didn't own land among others were not allowed to vote then.
