I just got done voting. That was my first time. I have to say I'm pretty smart and that whole process was a little confusing to me.

I voted with a paper ballot and you had to put it into this little card holder and thenpunch through it. It said that if you're voting for a straight party to punch the whole of that party so I did. I only made one punch on the entire card. Is this right?

Um.. why don't you ask the people that work there? It's different everywhere.

I didnt vote that way, where I voted its like a big computer screen, and you push buttons on the screen, which puts a green "X" near your choice.
When you're done with all your selections, you push a red "cast vote"
button.

The punch card sytem is crap! I just voted 15 minutes ago and half the names didn't even line up right with the ballot. We had 4 very important years to improve this. Go USA! :?

Shouldn't you have asked, um, before you cast your vote?

I REALLY don't get it. Isn't it much easier to get if they gave everyone a piece of paper and gave you a pencil to mark a tick or a cross or a "1" on it? You'd think the leading country of the free world would have a system that's less confusing, wouldn't you?

I might be crazy, but usually you don't find this stuff out til you actually vote. It would make sense right? Unless you can see things before they happen. :?

sample ballots are published all over the place before an election. They have to be by law.

It's pretty much like that here. There are two names and an arrow. Fill in the arrow with a pen and there's your man. It really isn't very hard to fill out a ballot or to ask for assistance if you need it.

Who thinks to look at a sample ballot the first time they vote? How hard can voting be? She didn't do it wrong anyways. She was just worried.

I know I would look at a sample ballot.

well, voting is important enough to some people to maybe read a newspaper one time to see what they need to do.

And..maybe it is true that usually people see the ballot for the first time when they get it in their hands at the polling place, but I am just saying it takes minimal effort to know what you're doing beforehand. Or, even if you don't, to ask someone at the polling place.
