"Pack your desks, you have an hour"

Yikes! We've been down that road. At least you've got a decent enough notice...instead of 2 hours, lol.

It's better than waiting 13 months to get laid.

that sucks, but the good thing is you have plenty of time to look for another job. hopefully you can get a job so that this doesn't effect you that much. best of luck.

Seriously dude, you have a year. If you can't find another job in a year I don't know what to tell you.

time is definitely on my side, and I'm looking at a severance package of close to $15,000, but it still blows.

I had a similar situation. Had about 6 months. They kept promising a bonus for staying until the end of the contract, but I left with one month left on the contract and they still hadn't put my retention bonus down on paper.

You've got to be kidding me. I had an hour, got one paycheck severance. You have a year, $15,000. You have absolutely nothing to complain about.

In politics, you're nearly guarenteed a pink slip when your boss's term is up. I spent a lot of time searching for jobs and applying. I'd suggest you do the same. Don't wait until month 11 to start. Get your resume cleaned up and get the process going. You're lucky you have so much time.

It might have something to do with the size of your breasts?

No. Getting fired is "get the fuck out and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out."

"Laid off" is the euphamistic way of saying, "We can't afford to pay you anymore, so we're eliminating your job. Here, sign this that says we treated you well, here's a petty severence so that you don't sue us, and here are instructions for how to collect unemployment. It's been nice knowing you."

When I got laid off, that's what happened to me. Two years at the job, and my supervisor stood over my desk while I cleaned out my stuff. :x

They also claim they'll call you back to work when it's available again, but somehow your job never opens back up...
