i have been listening to Genesis lately, and the music is very similar to PJ. it can talk about politics, society, love, and loss, and still sound good.

see, but i think that maybe you think of old ass phil collins, as eddie will be old one day. but if you listen to genesis, its got a tougher, funkier edge, ala land of confusion, that's all.

i'll give it a listen. but eddie will never, ever be as goofy as phil.

its easy to say that now, but people mellow out when they get older. remember the video for land of confusion, with that funny looking Regan puppet? and listen to that tune.
who knows, ten years from now, eddie could be solo, recording just good tunes like phil. seriously man, phil's got some good tunes. I'm listening to "in the air tonight" right now

his really recent stuff though, like last five years stuff, really isn't good. it's just corny.
i'll give a listen to the old stuff though.

i agree sort of. we are debating phil and eddie and what may happen in eddie's future. it's definitely open for debate.

yeah, but i wanted to compare it to PJ, so give a brother a break.
and yes, the last 10 years of phil collins is corny, but just try the old stuff. i revisited it, and am digging it.
i will try.
question: do you think genesis was anywhere near as good of a band as pearl jam is?

I'm sure many people would say that Genesis were better. It's all a matter of taste.
oh, i know that. i was just asking bryan to get a feel for how i should handle the situation.

its definitely taste. and the times. dissent was still acceptable then. a video of bush pudhing a button to luanch atomic war would be all over the news nowadays. people in Texas would burn their records
Yeah, it seems like this thread is more geared towards post Gabriel Genesis. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway and Selling England by the Pound are great.
