I've decided it's time to remember those great times in grade school that made childhood so special. I'll start us off.

Does anyone remember when Bryan Vice was running on the playground, not paying attention to where he was going, and smashed his face on the monkey bars? I do. He had to replace three teeth because of that.

Then there was this time that I had to kick Zack Milton's ass during three consecutive recesses for running his mouth. His mom was a lunch monitor and, as a result, Zack ended up getting in as much trouble as I did because she had to show impartiality. That was fucking awesome. Zack turned out all right. I ended up seeing him again in my 2nd period study hall sophomore year, we reminisced about old times.

C'mon, let's hear it.

my teacher in fourth grade had a mental breakdown. we didn't really learn anything that year, but we sure did play a lot of oregon trail on those old apple e computers.

fourth grade was the year that i played the cello and joined the choir.

fourth grade was the year that all my friends were transferred to the other class and i had no one to talk to during lunch. ):

Good times! I remember when Laura R -- who turned out to be rather hot, sans the spray-on tan -- led a crusade against me and my friends because I insisted I was married to her. Oh, Laura, remember when your friends made mine bleed? Oh, the look on Mrs. Michos' face!

In the 4th I got detention a lot. One day after school I was in detention with this kid Joey Lavezzolla. The teacher was out of the classroom. So it was me, joey, and two patrol monitors. The two patrol monitors were Danielle Noricka and Mary Jo Quattrone. So I reach into my bookbag and pull out my football. Joey went out for a pass. I threw the football and it hit a picture and frame on Ms. Frugali's desk. Mary Jo Quattrone ran out of the classroom and Told Mrs. Frugali.
My football was taken away for two weeks and detention for another week.

My junior year in high school I beat up Joey Lavezzolla before wrestling practice.(for a different reason) That landed me a 3 day suspension.

My 4th grade teacher was in her last year before pension/retirement so all we had to do all year was work in our grammar notebooks, which I had finished by December. We spent the rest of the year talking and drawing on the desk/wall while my teacher read romance novels in the front of the room.

Yes.

Fourth grade.. I was confused and depressed. Mrs. T was a real bitch that year, ironically the next year she was really nice... the principal made her go to anger management. I was good at math but couldn't read or spell worth a damn.. I'm the opposite now.

4th grade was the year i and everyone else in my school began reading goosebumps books. my first one was #11.. be careful what you wish for.

however, my school was a private school (and a Christian one at that) so whenever anything got too popular, it was seen as a false idol or some shit. so goosebumps books were banned.

shortly after, pogs suffered the same fate.

I went to a Catholic school, Pogs were crucified harder than Jesus Christ Himself. :(

Banning pogs is absolutely sacreligious.

My sister just had to read that book for her 4th grade summer reading assignment.

Yeah, I went to a private Catholic school. It was like a Nazi camp. One time in 4th grade, Nate Oliver punched Johrdan Knowles in the mouth during music class. They took him away, no one saw him til the next week. In school suspension, or so we thought...

When it came to geography, I was the most knowledgable in the class.

My fourth grade teacher wore a wig for some reason. i found out later that her normal hair was red in color, yet she wore a curly dark brown wig. i didn't really understand why she didn't just go with her natural hair color. perhaps there was something wrong with, although i can't be absolutely sure about it. i never actually saw her without her wig on. i found out a few years later about the wig and everything.

Shit. Thanks for making me feel so old.

4th grade...1978...I can't remember that far back!

I do remember having one really hyper kid in our class and he was on Ritalin. Out of the hundreds of kids in grammer school, he was the only one on Ritalin. Now it's handed out like Aspirin. :(

No, sorry, I'm not a Scientologist. But, I do think that Ritalin is over prescribed. And, while were at it, ADHD is over diagnosed.

I don't want to get off topic, though.

yeah. mine was prone to sitting at her desk, crying. like, all day. she wouldn't even give us stuff to do. eventually, someone would go get mrs. gresko, the teacher next door who was very shakey, and she'd tell us to read quietly while mrs. johnson went to the nurse.

Did this have harmful effects on the mental stability of you impressionable young children?

i like reading, so i didn't care much. that was the year that i finished the fourth and fifth grade section of books in the library. everyone else was kind of angry, though.
