hockey is probably by far the 2nd most physically demanding of the major sports, with football only being a slight edge, and it is light years ahead of basketball, with ping pong, bowling and knitting in between basketball and baseball

we've pretty much had this debate before (in a different arena), but the fact of the matter is that American kids dont grow up dying to play hockey... football, basketball, and baseball are the American sports... so sure, Canada worships (and should worship) Gretzky and his accomplishments, but down here, we look up to the bballers, baseballers, and footballers of this nation... sorry, but the majority of kids arent into hockey, and therefore the best athletes wind up in the big 3, and this is where our allegiance lies... is hockey the most demanding sport? probably, but it's not in high demand in the states

Gretzky was prolly the best at what he did.......i remember on stephen A smiths show they asked a similar question...and of course smith said jordan, which can be argued....but he had NO CLUE about anything Gretzky accoplished....he kept saying he was on stacked teams and didnt know he held any records.....it was embarassing to watch....he kept overshouting everyone saying 6 titles.....im sorry but the worst thing in a team sport is giving any individual credit for championships, they may be the most important person on teh team, but they didnt win teh championship by any means.

I would put hockey ahead of football in terms of being physically demanding. That the best hockey players can only play about 1/2 the game shows just how demanding it is. I would put boxing ahead of football as well.

i think wrestling is more demanding than boxing.....so its prolly, for me, wrestling, hockey, boxing, football....but staying on topic, what Gretzky did in hockey...no one will ever be able to do in a nother sport, statistically.
