I have a few questions about gas prices and cost of living outside the US. And seeing how we have a few RMers outside the country, please post and answer my queries.
1- How much are your gas prices
2- How many miles do you travel dailey(on average)?
3- Do you have alot of public transportation in you town/city?
any other questions or tidbits to add would be appreciated.

I just paid $4.04/Gallon CAN ($1.07/litre). With today's exchange rate that works out to $3.43/gallon US.
2. I travel between 5-20 miles (5 if i only go to work and back, anything else starts to add up)
3. Public transportation sucks. I live in a large city (area-wise) and if you live downtown or in the part of town with the malls its ok. But in my area the buses stop running after 7pm.
I live 35 miles from work(one way), I am spending 125.00 a month in gas. There is a bus system, but I would have to drive to reach it, and we have no train system. They are working on one now, and the first train should be running by december. I imagine americans live further away from their work than most other countries, but I dont know this for a fact, thats why I am asking.

Wow, looks like I am not alone. I also live 35 miles from work. We have a bus system (which is a complete joke - for my purposes, we have no bus sytem), we have no other public transportation system, no plans for one, and a wonderful array of bridges, tunnels and bridge/tunnels (which only slow down traffic more). I have to fill up once a week and spend about $30-$35 doing so.

1. $1.30 AUS per litre ($US 3.71 per gallon)
2. 34km, or 21miles
3. There is a large public transport system, but compared to major world cities it's just fucked is all.
In England petrol (as we quaintly call it!) is about 92p per litre (lots of tax). I work about 1 mile from my home and as I live in rural Devon there is no public transport. It is imperative that fuel prices are kept as low as possible so that we can all buy and run gas guzzling SUVs, sports cars etc. This will ensure an end to the fuel price debate as there won't be any. The only way to get people to use less fuel is to ration it on price...yes I know it's unfair.

Translation: 92p per litre = $1.83 per liter = $6.93 per gallon
And i'm pissed at having to pay $1.30/litre. Still a month and a half ago it used to be in the mid 90's. The price has risen as much this summer as it has in the last 10 years.
Public transportation is good but rather expensive from my point of view. I work about 3 kilometers from my home. I don't complain about the gas prices and I expect them to rise further. Cars need to be more efficient and the only way to create a demand for these cars is through high prices for gas. Still, SUVs and sports cars are increasingly popular.
