they'd be about the same probably. bonds a little ahead.
you think so??? i don't know, it might be close, but I don't think bonds would be ahead, especially if Griffey had consistently been performing like he has as of late.

if griffey, over the four years he was hurt and wasn't playing full time, averaged 40 homers a year, he'd have 661 right now.
his last full year, 2000, he hit 40 homers in 145 games.
in 1999, he hit 48 homers in 160 games.
so i'd say 40 is a fair average.

he's also been through many injuries prior to this recent stretch, you need to give credit where it's due. he also isn't juicing nearly as much as bonds, did, does and will. bonds is a homerun hitter, griffey is an all around player. he was out of the league for so long i think we forget what he may have been like if would have got in a groove earlier in his career, defensively, he's not too shabby either.

i'll give him credit, but he would be about 40 homers behind bonds. and bonds being a homerun hitter doesn't have much to do with griffey staying healthy.

i never said that, but if i was looking for someone to contribute all around, griffey is a shoe in.

which is right, but i'm just saying the law of averages says he probably wouldn't be ahead of bonds, but about 40 homers back.

I wonder what the difference in stats would be if you put Bonds in the Kingdome and Junior in Candlestick (during the 90's).

the difference i see is that the kingdome was about 312 down the rightfield line, and candlestick was about 328 or so.

man, i think that would be great for the game if that was the case, having a race like that, but how much longer would Griffey's career last?? or I guess the question would be, how long would Bonds' last. then there would be some serious steroid bashing if they found Griffey clean of performance enhancing drugs or even more criticizing if they found them both dirty.
the strange thing is you say bonds is a home run hitter when that's the only thing griffey is close to him in.
gold gloves
it's ten to eight, not that gold gloves matters much, but there's such a small difference defensively griffey's superiority doesn't matter much either.
the strange thing is you say bonds is a home run hitter when that's the only thing griffey is close to him in.
Sorry if I misunderstoof that, but you think Bonds is a better fielder than Griffey?
nah, i don't think the difference is very large though, thus it doesn't matter much. neither can play defense worth a shit anymore and they were both great when they could.

Griffey Trumps Bonds in every facet of the game besides hitting for average and a good eye at the plate.
Better fielder? No question.
Better home run hitter? Yes, because he doesn't cheat and take steroids.
Better ambassador of the game? You better believe it.
Better teammate? Probably.
Sweeter swing? Of course ( ) - threw that one in for good measure

Has anyone other than Bonds ever stolen 50 bases in a season and also hit 50 HR's in another season in their career? Or 40 HR's? Or 30? That fucker is such a 'roider.

Better fielder? No question. Bonds, in his prime, was quite good. Better home run hitter? Yes, because he doesn't cheat and take steroids. You probably have a point, I think it's all but decided Bonds took 'roids. Better ambassador of the game? You better believe it. No question here. Better teammate? Probably. I can't testify, but it seems that way. Sweet swing? Of course ( ) - threw that one in for good measure Bonds has just as good a swing - tight, compact and quick as hell.
