Christ.

I ran 4.5 miles today after sitting on my ass eating ice cream all summer. I'm feeling it right about now. It's not so bad because most of the team is in the same boat, although a few real serious about it and have been running all summer. Anyways, it's the first time I've done the sport and I think i will enjoy it.

Anyone else run/ran this sport now or back in the day?

In high school.. well, from 8th grade to 10th grade I was the top cross country runner basically on Long Island... in my division, that is. I ran a 5:02 mile in 8th grade, and by 10th grade I was running a 4:40-something. In 9th, I finished 3rd in a 3 mile race of over 600 people... blah blah blah. Point is... I was the man.

And i had sweet calves.

But then I broke my wrist, and couldn't run with a cast on. And i started smoking... and quit the team. Oh well.

That's funny cause usually cross-country runners are scrawny everywhere, including the legs.

I'm fairly scrawny...

but not where it matters.

I ran the race course today (a 5k race--3.2 miles). After a few days of practice I did it in 24:50 which is OK by me, not great. I hope to get it down to about 21:00 by the end of the season. There is a fair bit of uphill on the course, so it can get tough. The team looks Ok so far, and we've got a few weeks before the first meet.

In other words, I could kick Clark Griswold's ass in a footrace.

I've always been a fast runner, but I never ran cross country or anything. I've stuck with soccer since I was like 6.

I've always wanted to be really good at soccer, but it is not meant to be.

It takes a lot of time and practice. I'm getting really good, but I kind of hear what you're saying. I practice and shit, but my bro is just like a total natural.

Had the second time trial today; i cut my time by 1:40 to 23:05 on the 5K. Ran a 6:55 mile on the first split. I'm happy with that for a second race (It was only a week since the last time trial). First race is next weekend. I hope to get my time down to below 20 by the end of the season.

I use to run away from guys trying to kick my ass at school. I became pretty good at it too.

lol, I used to run after kids to kick their asses. Though it was always because they tried to pull shit with someone else.

I don't have the endurance for cross country. I'm fast and all, but geez...
