It might be a little early to talk about a show premiering in the fall TV line-up, but its Jason Lee, damn it! I've professed my platonic, man-love for one J. Lee many times on this board, so why stop now?
Check out this blurb from NewsAskew:
We've got another FIRST LOOK at live action footage for ya today, this time from the highly anticipated sitcom coming to NBC this Fall, "My Name is Earl". As you know, our beloved Jason Lee stars in his first featured TV role as the title character, a down on his luck, criminal-type who wins the lottery and has an epiphany about his life. Having read the pilot script, Lee seems to capture the character perfectly, and it certainly seems like the show will have that offbeat "Raising Arizona"-like charm to it. We're predicting a big winner in this.
NBC is sure hyping this up. Anytime I watch The Office or Scrubs, I see ads for this show at every commercial break. Unfortunately the more I see of it, the more leery I am that it is going to be any good.

Watched the pilot episode a month ago and I was impressed. It was pretty funny. Gave me that Scrubs feeling. Overall it may be an entertaining show if it doesn't get too predictable.

this looks like it would make an hilarious film, and a sitcom that'll be boring after two to three weeks.

I think it'll play great as a show. If he's wronged a hundred or so people, that leaves it wide open for writers to go beserk.

I liked it, NYDN gave it 4 stars so going in I was expecting greatness, it wasnt the best pilot ever but really all it was supposed to do is set up the series...it had some funny moments, like the whole gay guy thing....think it will be a good one
Isn't the guy that plays "Earl's" brother the fat guy from American History X and the Stereogram (3D picture) guy from Mallrats?
If so, he is less than half of his former self.
Could have been a worse 1st episode. Now that the plot has been established, they can spend more time on being funny.
I really liked it. I wanted to kick his ex-wife...
