I take my job very seriously. My job involves officiating intramural soccer games (indoor in the fall, outdoor in the spring). I take it very seriously because I have a desire to do this for competitive levels in the future.

So anyway, I thought it would be ace to order myself some real referee shorts. You know...those little tight ones that show more thigh than even my future wife should probably ever want to see. Really, I just wanted a goddamned back pocket so I could stick my red card where it belongs.

So anyway, I hear good things about these Adidas shorts so I order a pair. I can only get them in large but I'm thinking ehhh those ought to be big enough.

They show up on Tuesday. Not long enough. Not wide enough. Back pocket not deep enough for my red card. SIDE POCKETS MISSING IN ACTION.

The kicker, however, is that they had that little white mesh liner on the inside that you normally see in swim trunks. I cut that shit out of there first thing before even trying them on/discovering the disturbing lack of side pockets.

That's $40 wasted.

I'm still thinking about wearing them outside once to scare children.

Haha, geez man I know exactly what you're talking about. The ref we used to have...it was scary man.

Why not just get a ref shirt with a pocket?

This kind of behavior is to be expected.

This reminds me of a story from a few summers ago. A friend of mine had a party one saturday, one friend refs the pop warner football in the area and stopped by in his referee outfit, we're talking hat, full ref pants (the ones that look like little league baseball pants), socks, striped shirt, whistle and yellow flag. A bunch of other friends are at a bar closeby, I trade outfits and walk over to the bar, storm in drunk as a skunk and start blowing the whistle and throwing flags at some friends for drunken unknown penalties, I then turned around and left without talking to anyone and walked back to the party.

The kicker is my younger brother was in the bar with a girl from his work, he thought I'd be there because I hung out there all the time. He was telling her stories about me and telling her how nuts I was right before I stormed in with the ref outfit. He said the timing was perfect and all he had to do was say "well, thats him".

I have some pictures of me in that outfit, I'm gonna have to get them off of my friend.
