How did she get a raw deal? She was found guilty of conspiracy, obstruction of justice and making false statements about her insider trading. She got a few months in a minimum security prison and some house arrest. From what i understood a maximum sentence for those convictions could have landed her 20 years in jail.

Speaking of Kobe, I know someone who attended a Crime Investigators seminar here in Colorado in which the DA for Eagle County spoke about the Kobe case. Kobe is the luckiest guy in the world and if it wasn't for the judge's messups, he'd be locked up right now.

House Arrest has been difficult for Martha. Yeah, well, ... Martha, that's why they don't call it "freedom."

Martha Stewart: House Arrest 'Extremely Difficult' POSTED: 4:18 pm EDT September 11, 2005
LOS ANGELES -- Martha Stewart said home confinement was tougher than doing time in federal prison.
She told Time magazine it was "extremely difficult," especially for "a busy person watching the clock, and knowing other people are watching the clock."
Stewart was only allowed out of her house for a limited period.
The domestic diva served five months behind bars for lying to authorities about a stock deal and nearly six more months in home confinement.
She's been free of her electronic ankle bracelet monitor since Sept. 1.

Maybe it should be stated that compared to all the business tycoons w/ ties to the white house, she is getting a raw deal.

I will agree with that, but corruption in the legal system is a whole different can-o-worms. But compared to your average citizen guilty of white collar crime, i think she got off pretty easy, or at least fairly. For once it was nice to see a celebrity get what they deserve.

Y'know, I had a conversation with someone in Missoula about something similar to this while waiting for the show. It was mentioned that people like OJ Simpson and Michael Jackson have plenty of money to get the best lawyers out there to acquit them, while more unfortunate (and perhaps more innocent?) accused people go to jail with lesser quality representation.
So, he put forward an interesting proposal: require all law firms to accept some pro bono work for those who cannot afford counsel.
It had me thinking a bit for a while. Could this be feasibly implemented? Would it cause some constitutional problems? Would it help out at all? Lawyers would probably be able to have a better idea than I would (yeah, this is an nudge in PD's direction ).
P.S.: I wanted to mention this to Ara when I met him (since he was quite vocal when the Jackson verdict came in), but PJ and drunken fools got in the way.
I mean, Kobe Bryant got into trouble but he was acquited. So, where's that McDonald's ad that he was going to do before he got into trouble.

How the fuck is house arrest hard? She must really get bored of staying inside her giant mansion.
She said harder than regular incarceration. I say, "fuck it! If she doesn't like it, put her back in prison!" What a jackass thing for an ignorant, rich fuck to say.

Don't lawyers already get assigned cases for indigent patients? It happened on The Practice all the time.

Let's just say peeps you don't say the things to the police Kobe said if you didn't rape someone or have the bruises on her neck (there are pictures you know).
Things like "Can't we just settle this, whatever this is?". Oh and wandering around the lobby of the hotel looking for the girl and asking people where she is and then when the police get there asking the police "Who are you here to see?".
Don't worry Peeps I've heard all the details and Kobe was guilty. If the replacement judge would have had any experience and not let out her name and picture, he would have been gone.
