In the vein of the new and improved GD, I am asking for some opinions
I assume that we are all music fans here, so lets say your favorite band is touring, how many times do you try to see them. How much is to much. I have a friend who loves Dwight Yoakum and has seen him probably 5 times this year. How many concerts for one band have you done in a year?

piss off B, cant this be a GD? I dont want to talk about any bands or albums, I just want to talk about traveling and spending money on this type of thing and why we do it!

jacktor, get divorced and run away with me.
let's put it this way: in 2003 i followed pearl jam for 5 shows and i regretted not going to two others.
i'm seeing them twice this tour, and the only reason i'm not at a handful of PJ shows in canada is because i am working.

it all depends on whether they mix up their setlists every night. why would i want to go and see a band play 5 times if they're going to play the same things everytime?

I like to see Pearl Jam once every couple of years. I'd probably see them more, but I like to have things like a new kitchen floor, a working oven, a TV, ... food. For the price of two Pearl Jam tickets I can hang out with my friends at a bar a lot. I get more out of that than driving all over the country hearing variations on Pearl Jam's setlist.

i understand completely, I cant afford to fly to any of the PJ concerts, but the money I have spent this year going to show around town has been ridiculous

I've seen rem like 6 times and never got sick of them. But they played here a couple of times this year and I went to one of the shows but not the other because i just didn't want to see the same show again.
But on the other hand I would travel to see pearl jam everywhere i feasibly can.
So it depends on the band and how much you want to see them. If you love a band then no amount is to much, but if you only like them then once or twice should do

totally depends on the band. after i saw pearl jam last year i wish i could see them a few more times that tour. i saw green day last week and that was enough until their next album. i saw metallica a few years ago, and i would have loved to see them again, but they played the same set for the entire tour (SS'03). So i guess it depends on how big of a fan i am, and how they work their sets.

I've never left a concert and said, "I'd pay $50 to do that again tomorrow."

prices can be a bite in the ass, I paid $65ish per ticket for a Chris Isaak concert this year, I really like his shows and they are worth the money in some ways, but I just cant justify paying that much again. I have seen him 3x and i am done
