Just getting ready for tonight.

1. Whenever he mentions 9/11, drink.
2. Whenever he says "hard work" or "working hard," drink.
3. If he says "blame game," do a shot.
4. For every "uh" take a shot of beer. If he says "uh" before you finish that shot, do a shot of liquor.

You may need one of these.

Is this a just a speech or is there a press conference as well?

Your game will probably have more success if it's the latter.

It's really kind of an "Anytime Bush Speaks" game. I probably should give him the benefit of the doubt in the time of disaster. But if he makes it though his speech without making anyone drink, he can have the benefit of the doubt next time.

Man, I made a shitty drinking game.

That being said, couldn't they have just posted that speach on whitehouse.gov? I could have read it myself instead of having Bush just read it to me. It's like watching Colin Quinn do SNL Headlines.

im sure ill catch flak for this... but it wasnt a bad speech.

very little reference to stopping terror. Or Justifying the war- he stayed on topic.

Proposed reasonable sounding plans, provided hope to those from the region.
He also seemed to not skirt the 2 main issues...
the poor initial response
and the race/class divide issue... and even managed to propose a couple options to IMPROVE the region from where it was.

Not a bad speech.

I expected to hear the word "freedom" in there quite a few times. A lot less than usual.

That word's my cue for a shot.

I like this idea of making Bush speeches into drinking games. I will use it next time!

I think the problem I ran into was basing a drink on him saying "uh." He does that incessantly while speaking, but he read this speech off the teleprompter word for word, so it nulified a whole rule.

Plus he didn't say "blame game." I was very sad about there.

There were a few "hard works" and at least one 9/11 reference. Overall, I give my game a D.

It was a good effort. Maybe you should have added another rule for every blank stare/vacant gaze.

Emphasis on the wrong word in a sentence.

I'd be in the hospital right about now.

Bush's approval rating is still dropping.

They had a great clip of a lady moving back to New Orleans. They asked her about FEMA and the mayor disagreeing on whether or not to move in. She said something like, "why in God's name would I put ANY stock in what FEMA says?"

i thought it was funny how this speech seemed alot like some of his war on terror speeches.
at a couple of points i remember him saying something to the effect that we would have to work hard, it wouldnt be easy, and we have to stick it out for the long haul

BREAKING: Bush’s Ratings Drop After Speech
This just in from Rasmussen Reports:

Thirty-five percent (35%) of Americans now say that President Bush has done a good or excellent job responding to Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. That’s down from 39% before his speech from New Orleans.

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey shows that 41% give the President poor marks for handling the crisis, that’s up from 37% before the speech.

A disappointing debut for Compassionate Conservatism v2.0.
