I can't wait for next summer!

We get Tim's remake of Willa Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (now named Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) AND The Corpse Bride, another claymation film by Tim! :D

Good on the name change. I always hated the way they changed the name of the book for the movie.

should be amazing!

why didn't Big Fish get the recognition and the acclaim that I really think it deserved? I thought that was a great movie!

It was an ok movie and book, but nothing fabulous. Although Augustus Gloop owned when he ate the reporter's microphone. Or maybe it was his dad.

I heard they were considering him, but he's a confirmed voice talent for The Corpse Bride, so I dunno if him being Wonka fell through.

Some info on The Corpse Bride from Yahoo! Movies:

Quote:
Release Date: October, 2005 (wide)

Release Date Note: (10/8/03) 2005 is looking to be a very cooperative year for Warner Bros. and Tim Burton, with this movie currently being scheduled for release in October, 2005, just four months after the June, 2005 release of Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Title Note: (9/20/03) Besides 'The Corpse Bride,' I've also seen this project listed as 'Tim Burton's Corpse Bride.'

Nation of Origin: United Kingdom

Distributor: Warner Bros.

Production Company: Will Vinton Studios, Tim Burton Animation Co, Warner Bros Feature Animation

Type of Animation: Stop-Motion (like The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach)

Cast: (voices) Johnny Depp (The Groom), Helena Bonham Carter (The Corpse Bride), Albert Finney, Christopher Lee, Emily Watson, Richard Grant, Joanna Lumley; other voice cast not yet announced.

Cast Notes: (7/8/04) Most of the voice cast leads have been announced, and for the most part, they are people who have worked with Tim Burton in the past, like Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter (his girlfriend and recently, the mother of a child by him), Albert Finney and Christopher Lee.

Director: Tim Burton and Mike Johnson (feature directorial debut; worked as an animator on James and the Giant Peach, which Burton also produced)

Director Notes: (7/6/04) Originally, Tim Burton was expected to be taking only a producer credit, but "Variety" reported last week that he will be codirecting as well.

Composer: Danny Elfman

Screenwriter: Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands, Buddy, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Black Beauty, The Secret Garden); rewrite by Pamela Pettler (cowriter of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)

Screenwriter Note: (9/20/03) The first screenwriter to work on this project, back in the 1990s, was Michael Cohn (he directed Snow White: A Tale of Terror).

Based Upon: This movie is based upon a 19th century Russian folk tale. According to that source, this folk tale has its roots in historical facts, as anti-Semitic gangs would often attack Jewish wedding parties, killing and burying the bride in her wedding gown.

Premise: (9/21/03) The core gist of the fairy tale this movie is based upon is that a young man accidentally marries the corpse of a murdered bride, who is then resurrected, expecting her new (living) husband to love her. It's possible that there will be a good deal of embellishment to that basic idea... but as of right now, I don't know what that might be. (11/15/03) This movie may be set in London's East End. (7/6/04) Scratch that. The setting is a 19th century European village (where specifically in Europe is as yet unknown). A new twist to the story is the addition of an existing (live) wife for the male lead, who will be voiced by Emily Watson.

Filming: Stop-motion animation production is scheduled to start in November, 2003 in London, England. There will be production done at Will Vinton Studios in Portland, Oregon.

The preview really wasn't all that impressive. Johnny Depp just doesn't look like a very convincing Willy Wonka. Hopefully I'll be wrong though.

I think the thing I am most excited for in this remake is the music. Danny Elfman is so perfect...i can totally imagine Oingo Boingo playing in the background to this movie...

I'm not too sure if I dig the look either. But the trailer confirmed two things: 1) Tim Burton is doing his own damn thing, and I like that.
2) Johnny Depp kicks a whole lotta ass. Again this character looks like nothing else he has ever done.
