I'm wondering because I'm a psychology major, and I know there is a wide variety of jobs avaliable for people with a masters in psychology besides being a psycholoogist. I'm just interested hearing about it from someone other than my psych professors

thanks!

If you're considering doing anything with marketing, end it now and kill yourself. :D

I'm taking psychology right now, and I'm considering it as a major.

just plan on going to grad school if you continue. Also psych grad is hard to get into. a family friend of mine was valedictorian in HS. went to a real good school for undergrad (cant remember which one) and got real good grades. when he applied for psych grad didnt get into his top three choices. not trying to talk you out of it. just give it good thought. i probably wouldnt have done it.

Don't major in psych, major in philosophy! Then you can be a guru or something... 8)

I graduated with a BA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology with a Business minor. I loved it. You can get your masters in I/O but I'm getting my MBA instead. Clinical psychology is what most people think of when they think of psych but it's so incredibly competitive... probably because that's what most people interested in psychology know about! I/O was a lot of fun for me because I'm interested in how businesses become successful or not based on things like employee relations, relationships with customers, competitors etc. There's a lot involved in I/O but my biggest interest was in employees.

Yes, I am one of the many great unwashed masses who has a useless psych degree. To be honest, I didn't know what I wanted to do at the time (still don't really) and thought it would be general enough for me to go to grad school, which was the original plan. I went for one semester in Business and utterly fucking hated it. So I quit and have yet to return. I've considered I/O for a while as well, I really enjoyed it as an undergrad.

So basically I enjoyed the classes and found it really interesting, but unless you're going to grad school I wouldn't plan on it directly helping you get a job when you get out of school.

At least you're not trying to major in acting or film like me. If I get a degree in production I'll have to pay my own money to work.
