I always thought they had one of the best band names. Never heard any of their songs that I can remember.

I am totally bumping this thread because I have really been into them lately. "Deep Shag" is a downright amazing song. All female or female-led bands can sometimes be incredibly underrated, and Luscious certainly falls into that category (see also Rilo Kiley....)

When people talk about Pearl Jam covering "Naked Eye," I always imagine them playing Luscious Jackson's "Naked Eye," not the song by The Who.

Yep, LJ Naked Eye >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> PJ Naked Eye

I first saw LJ when they opened for REM on the Monster Tour, They were awesome and I was hooked since.

just found this clip of Jill's solo work. Groovy tune, though her recordman just seems awkward to hold onto.

I'm gettin a signed copy of the cd :)

Luscious Jackson has begun work on their first album of new material since 1999's Electric Honey. The band has opted to skip the traditional label route this time and they are funding their new project via PledgeMusic, a site that helps bands connect with their fans and offers unconventional rewards in exchange for donations. The group is still in the process of recording, but RollingStone.com is offering a stream of the upbeat new track "Are You Ready?" right here. "It's nice to have no big, huge labels pressures and all that stuff. It's something that we see as a cottage industry, that we can build," singer/bassist Jill Cunniff told Rolling Stone. "We will be doing some concerts when we're ready. We're going to finish this album – and try to finish it in six months – and then figure out when we can do some concerts. It's not going to be everything we used to do, but we’re going to see what we can do."

I've done the pledge thing for several artists. Some people see it as the the artists whoring themselves out for cash. I have no problem with it at all. The fans get everything they want (music, memorabilia, autographs etc) and the artist gets the music to the core crowd.

I always liked naked eye, but that's really the only song I ever listened to off that album.
