Didn't know they were making this into a movie. The book was pretty good, although I found it got a little tiresome as it went on. Definitely impressive considering the age of the author when he wrote it...

Yes.
Saw the movie tonight. It was pretty good. It was funny, depressing and quite entertaining. I did feel it dragged at parts though. Definitely worth seeing though.

I can't wait to see this. Jonathon Foer is one of the best authors of the past few years. Definitely check out this book before seeing the movie, and pick up the new one Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close if you enjoy it. He has a unique knack for mixing family history, world history, recent events, and outrageous gimmicks in his books. Fans of Michael Chabon will dig this guy alot.

Foer is alright... he still has a ways to go before he really hones his own style and becomes a solitary voice rather than a pastiche of a billion other writers... he doesn't hold a candle to Chabon, but he's pretty decent considering how young he is.

Saw this last night. I would recommend it. If you haven't seen the book, which I haven't, it really messes with you. You don't really know where the movie is going emotionally, but in a good way.

i wouldn't say it was poorly adapted or directed... it was just cut down so much from the book it feels pretty incomplete. Visually it looks pretty good, so I'd say schreiber did a pretty good job, even though he filmed roughly 40 percent of the novel. However, Alex is spot on... I think this is the best novel-to-film character transition i've ever seen. He is exactly as I imagined him. Frodo is ok, but that's to be expected since, Foer in the novel is about as lackluster as the performance in the film. For me, Alex makes the movie worthwhile.

i'm not critcizing, just sayin...i think it may be one of those cases where i saw the movie, but knew nothing of the book, then i wouldn't mind....or saw the movie then read the book...i dunno, i mean i'd watch it...then i'd call you to let you know how i felt and i'd call after 9 so it'd be free so we could talk for a really long time and really learn each other yanno so we could communicate better on here i think it'd be fun and we could share our favorite geg moments and eat popcorn (no sneaky stuff!) so yeah i'll look into that guy
